“'Heaven' on Earth!! :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

I stayed at Manuia Beach Resort in mid June. I took a short break to recharge my batteries and escape the busy life. I could not have hoped for a more perfect Resort to take this break. The place has been recently refurbished and the rooms are tastefully appointed, very clean, well equipped and comfortable.

The property is in an excellent location. Only 10 minutes on the scooter to town, on the west tip of the island so be prepared for the most stunning sunsets - and the happy hour cocktails make the perfect accompaniment! All the facilities are great, the pool is beautiful and the view from the pool is stunning. Have a look at the photos I have posted on the Manuia Beach Resort Facebook page.

The restaurant was excellent. The food is fresh, local and very well cooked. I highly recommend it.

The service and staff really makes the whole experience genuine and Polynesian in flavour. Alex and Loren are a Wonderful couple, Warm, friendly, very caring and customer focused. Highly recommended!!

Room Tip: All rooms are Excellent, however if you want a view of the Ocean choose a Beachfront Villa

I don't revisit the same place twice until now, my wife and I will definitely return to Rarotonga and now that we have found Manuia Beach Resort. Our beach front room had us looking straight out over the pool to the waves breaking on the reef. The food is reasonably priced and seriously good. Daily continental breakfast buffet with my preference for the hot pancakes yoghurt and fruit.
We cannot speak highly enough about the staff here managers Alex & Loren's team headed by the Cook Island's queen of hospitality in Kura make you welcome and you want for nothing.
Location has you situated near some superb eating venues in Waterline & Tumunu. Bike and car hire across the road is very convenient.
The rooms (24 in all) are spacious with private outdoor showers and undercover balcony's.
If you are a couple this is the place, if you stay elsewhere just check Manuia Beach Resort out day or night, have a meal there it is up with the best of them.

We first found Manuia Beach in 1995, again in 2000, last year 2012 we spent Christmas/New Years in the Cooks and just booked a month for Christmas/New Year 2013/14 at the best boutique hotel in the Cooks, Manuia Beach, where we are meeting up with friends from NZ. Alex, Loren and the entire staff are wonderful, a perfect small hotel where everyone interacts with each other, says hello each morning over coffee. You can spend the entire day barefoot from your bungalow to the beach to the bar/restaurant and be comfortable in your bathing suit all day. Great beach to walk, swim and collect shells, and oh yes don't forget cocktails and sunsets. It's a long way from Boston but worth every mile. And oh yes, the Cook Islanders are the best host in the world.

Room Tip: If you don't stay beach front then ask for bungalow 8 or 11, these Garden bungalows have ocean v...

We spent eight nights in a beach-front villa and loved it. Kept an eye on what was going on while sipping cocktails or wine. When no-one was about the sea/sky views were great to just contemplate. We found the restaurant food to be good - we only ate out three times. Breakfast by the pool with unencombered ocean and reef views was very pleasant indeed. Staff were very attentive and friendly but we did wonder what they were thinking when we drank cocktails costing more than their hourly rate! My wife had an issue with the white curtains as darkness at night wasn't available to us. I found the snorkelling just off the beach to be great and would recommend taking an underwater camera. All manner of pretty coloured fish, a couple of small inquisative morays, a flounder and no harm if you're careful with bare hands and coral - I didn't see a stonefish but I was careful where I put sensitive bits of me! The hire bikes over the road are probably the oldest on the island but once ours was fixed we went all over. The inland road is good for a change with the side roads combining to illustrate how the locals live. In general the island has too many chickens and dogs and there were too many people burning foul smelling rubbish when we were there. Recommend the cross-island walk but there are a couple of steep bits - and don't expect a bus back to your transport on the other side around noon on Sunday - they don't run at all for a couiple of hours.

Room Tip: Peace and quiet in the outside units behind the beach front ones. Keep in touch with happenings fro...

My two sisters and I have literally just returned after seven blissful days at Manuia. Loren and Alex were professional, friendly and helpful, our well appointed unit was near the glorious beachfront, no TV needed in the unit as we were always out and about. I put on several kilos after overindulging in the delish breakfast (esp the pancakes). We booked trips on the staff's recommendation and were able to make the most of our time on this gorgeous island. Outdoor shower - such fun! Great snorkelling off the beach, though best away from directly offshore from the resort where the water was deeper. Our only niggle was the evening menu, the prices were very high for what you got - just a walk away is Windjammer restaurant which became our favourite dining spot. Thanks to all at Manuia (including the dedicated staff who serviced our rooms so beautifully!).

Room Tip: We had room ten, just one row away from the noisy at times beachfront and restaurant, perfect.

What a great find - we loved the Manuia Beach Resort - small enough to be friendly and offer personal service. We stayed a week and would love to have stayed longer. The staff are fantastic and very attentive - the guests were nice too! Because the place is so small it is easy to chat to the other guests over breakfast or at the end of the day for drinks - no crowds here. The location is perfect - just ten minutes drive into town.

We stayed in a renovated room and just loved the outdoor shower and simple décor. The only downside of the room was that it was very public - anyone walking along the path could see in and even if you were on the deck you were very exposed - it just lacked a little privacy.

The restaurant was a fun place - sand floor and open to the elements. Breakfast was a little disappointing in terms of what was on offer - some fresh fruit but mostly canned. Dinner we felt was expensive at $30 for a main course - and not that tasty regardless of the dish- better value and quality elsewhere. Great sunsets though! We walked about 100metres down the road to the Waterline Restaurant - fantastic food,, great choices and for much less.

The beach has plenty of sun beds and is a relaxing spot to while away a few hours - the beach is not the best for swimming - but there is a small pool for that much needed dunk.

Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return - loved the child-free policy.

Room Tip: We had a garden room which I think would have been better than one overlooking the pool and beach...

First time visitors to Rarotonga (and Manuia obviously). Loved that it was child free and only a maximum of 24 couples staying at any one time. The last unit to be refurbished was completed while we were there (late May 2013) so al units now looking great. Highly recommend the Beach front units (1-6) although units 7-12 would also be OK (1 row back). Units 19-24 are a bit close to the Office/car park so avoid if possible. Snorkelling is great right off the beach in front of the Resort. Snorkelling equipment provided by the resort if needed. Would highly recommend snorkelling opposite "Fruits or Rarotonga" about 7km east if you like bigger fish/deeper water but Manuia was great especially for first timers who can touch bottom at most times if required. Take bread with you too for a close up experience with the fish. Even saw a couple Moray eels which just sit there and look at you ! Restaurant is good too with great lagoon views over the beach to the breaking waves on the coral and sunsets to die for ! Awesome. Also loved the outdoor shower, the friendly helpful staff and the fact the only TV is in the Guest lounge. No phones in the rooms but cell reception good if required. Unlimited filtered water on tap from the restaurant which you can use to fill up the provided water jug in your fridge. Tea and Coffee making facilities in each room but no cooking facilities ensures you are eating out each day ! Highly recommend the Manuia Beach Resort to any couples seeking a quiet romantic holiday ! Oh, and not a rooster to be heard :-)

Room Tip: Rooms 4 and 5 have a path between them which is the main walkway to the restaurant/Infinity pool for...
