“Had a great vibe.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013 via mobile

Located in Moyogalpa just up and one street to the left from the ferry port (San Jorge), hospedaje central was a very inviting welcome into this "city" in Isla De Ometepe. Like the website states, this hostel has the design that most backpackers are familiar with which made the place funky and inviting. A family owns the hostel but its run by volunteers. Very helpful and had a lot of fun. Because the staff were friendly and open, all of the fellow guests were just as community oriented. With a full bar restaurant up front called Indo Viejo, don't be weary of the noise. Everything shuts pretty early and from our room (on the second level) we could not hear too much. Rooms are clean and have a fan which helps tremendously! Usaki can also help you out with great guides tours to the volcano. If you have large groups the price will be $15 each. Smaller for up to $25. Beds range from $2.50 hammock to $15 private with amenities. Would highly recommend if you want a central location, great food, good vibe and feel like part of the stay.

The mattresses in the dorm did not look very inviting, and it doesn't have a door to close. Private room was ok, some beds not too great.
The atmosphere is nice but the staff a bit so and so - the one woman falls asleep while she is serving you, getting the room I had booked in advance took about 30 minutes and actually getting the key took 2 hours including reminding her 3 times. The otehr guys is nice. Wifi is nice, nice setup as well, lots of locals in the evening but the staff is very hesitant is getting rid of drunk guys, even when those pester guests. I guess there's nice options - i.e. Soma, where the dorm was currently under construction when i asked to stay there.

We arrived here and were enticed inside by the good music, then enchanted by the beautifully painted rooms, stuck to the bar by the rum and great converesatipn with friendly locals who love the place too, and then blown away by our fantastic meal... The tacos and fish fillet were out of this world! All in all, one of the nicest places that we have stayed in Nicaragua.

I touched ground in Ometepe with a friend the 22.12 and stayed there until the 26.12. We had a reservation in the Hospedaje central and everything worked great. The atmosphere, the staff and the music (if your looking for some great french reggae bands, oldies or just classic music, you will be served!) are great. We had 2 beds in a dorm with 14 other poeple. Even with a full dorm you have still some privacy, space and you will sleep well.
You can easily book some tours to the Concepción volcano for exemple (Great experience by the way). A little insider tip: The cook chief can prepare you a lot more then what's on the menu. You should really ask for the Chicken Sandwich, they are more then great :-)
Only little negatif point, the disco in front of the hostel can be a bit too loud.

There are some things that need fixing but if you can overlook those facts it's an amazing experiience to stay at this hostel! The staff is super friendly and the animals in the backyard are a lot of fun to observe! We also enjoyed sleeping in the hammocks which only cost us around 3 bucks!!! They helped us with all our wishes and gave us directions to all the places we wanted to visit.

Room Tip: Take the hammocks :)

I feel like this place is coming apart. I stayed in a dorm. It was okay, but not as nice as other hostels I've been in. Though, it was pretty cheap at $5.50/night. The one shower for the entire dorm-staying people was an open-air outdoor shower.

Staff was nice and friendly. Free wifi is always nice. There's nothing bad to say about this place, but at the same time nothing great to say either.

The rooms and dorms were very cheap, A private room with bathroom was $10 (Dorms were $5.50 (but out in the open)). However, there were cracks in the walls, gaps between those walls and the ceilings and two mating spiders above the bathroom door. The staff were nice and friendly but the padlock that is meant to lock the room up was broken and could just be pulled apart. The music rocked on until 2am with partying locals (not good if you are sleeping in a dorm and only just bearable if you are sleeping in a private room). In summary, if you have a limited budget then stay here but if you can afford a couple of extra dollars then I would go somewhere else.
