“Comfy Location if Waiting to Swim Channel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

Stayed here during my English Channel swim window.

Was close enough to the coast to reach the water easily each morning. At the same time it was conveniently close to supermarket and suburb amenities.

Found it to be clean, and staff accommodating to any requests.

With an early ferry the next morning, we booked in for the night at the Ramada Dover. It was cheap and cheerful. The staff upon check-in were friendly and welcoming, the room was adequate with a comfy bed and all the needed facilities like a clean bathroom and a kettle with tea and biscuits.
It was a little dated perhaps, and could do with some more plug point in this day and age, but with free wifi it was just what we needed to recharge our batteries before heading out. Its an excellent location from the ferry port which is only around 8 minutes away.

First the good points. Friendly staff, clean rooms, loads of hot water, bathrooms have full bath. Not so good are paper thin walls between rooms, regular coach parties which decimate the breakfast buffet (eg no pastries left at 8.30 on one day). Still very adequate for a short stay.

Great location for a quick getaway across the Channel, decided because of Easter traffic and also to ensure that delays would not affect our crossing, so stayed at the Ramada, it is about 10 mins drive to the Ferry terminal.
Good hotel, rooms clean and acceptable with good facilities including WiFi and also a good bar and Retaurent which is a great way to start your holiday away.
Good sized carpark as well and just off the A2 at the Eastern end of Dover.

We stayed at Ramada Dover over the Easter weekend from Friday to Monday. It was the first time we had stayed in any Ramada before. Standards were OK but I still prefer Holiday Inn or Premier Inn to it. Room was on the small side and so was the bathroom. They don't have double glazing either. Employees on the front desk were very helpful and friendly. However some small things weren't up to standards such as a broken tap in the bathroom and lots of scratches on the bathroom door. Other than that everything else was fine.

So we went to Dover castle, Our two young daughters my wife and myself. We booked the hotel before we left home. And make no mistake the Ramada exceeded my expectations. A spotless and very friendly place to be. Had the benefit of a mini gym, lovely food, and very helpful staff. It's not far from Dover Castle, about ten minutes in the car. So if you find yourself in that parish, I strongly recommend it......
