I stayed at this hotel in 2002 and again in October 2013. Some things don't change. This is a lovely, clean, posh hotel. Unfortunately it is still grandiose in its delusion that guests don't mind being screwed for outrageous charges. These are £16 for 24 hours wifi access and a further £5 charge for using its car park. How on earth and more importantly why on earth to guests put up with it?
I challenged the Marriot on why is this day and age they were still charging guests such an outrageous rate for access to wifi in their bedrooms. Answer: 'Well its free in the public areas..." Compare this with Express at Holiday Inn in Canterbury and Walsall free wifi, free parking. The Premier Inn in Gravesend wifi, £3 for 24 hours!
The worst thing about the Marriot hotels, the price of food! It really is outrageous how they sell mediocre food for premiium prices. Sandwiches that would cost £2.50 in Sainsbury's are racked up to to double figures costs. The gymnasium is out of commission, but don't expect any recompense from the Marriot. In fact don't expect any shame or embarrassment. They've been ripping off customers for generations and will continue to do this until people vote with their feet. I wonder...do they charge their guests in the USA for wifi access and parking?

Thank you for your post, it is disappointing that the areas we have changed since your last stay with us 10 years ago have not met your expectations. In January 2013 our public areas converted to free WIFI and the hotel was converted to wireless which is a fantastic development for our guests.
In Bexleyheath car parking is at a premium and to ensure our guests have parking available we have had to implement a separate company to manage this, we have ensured that the price of car parking is aligned with the other car parks within the area.
Marriott Hotels pride itself on the quality of food and service that we deliver, we constantly review the menu to ensure we are aligned with other 4 star hotels in the area. I appreciate that there is alternative outlets in which you can purchase food from however we cannot compare ourselves to the outlets that you have mentioned.
