An hour flight is not bad to visit Legaspi, so why not go to this very much talked about Misibis Bay. We booked our trip ahead of time and reservation was already a headache! We should have seen the "signs"! I emailed Misibis and was inquiring about the rates, but did not receive a reply, so i told my sister to email them instead since her email add is more foreign sounding! 'lo and behold she received a reply! Sadly, she was referred to one reservations agent to another! She wanted to back out but my other siblings really wanted to visit the "famous" Misibis! The Cebu Pacific flight was okay but it was full! There was another family of 20 who I recognized and assumed to be going to the same destination. When we reached Legaspi and got all our suitcase, nobody from Misibis met us! So we looked and looked and asked! There was somebody from Misibis, but they were busy with the big group of 20! Uh, we also paid for this trip?!? How many are we? 9! How the heck can you miss a party of 9?!?
We were expecting a speed boat to take us to the island. it should have been a short trip of 30 minutes, but NO!!!!! We had to go the long way of 1 hour and 15 minutes by land! Good thing the van was new, but they were definitely not equipped for the land travel!! We finally reached our destination and wow! the place was nice but when we got off our van nobody helped us with our luggage we were just waiting for the lone staff handing out fish like leis. I was expecting somebody to give us a baggage tag, instead they directed us to proceed to the front office. Imagine the group of 20 plus 9 of us in a small and cramp front desk. Here comes the Resident Manager informing us that our rooms are not ready yet! it was already 1:30 pm. An excuse of being fully booked is not acceptable, because the hotel was already expecting our group to arrive. We were then lead to the coffee shop to have lunch. How was the food? Terrible! The F&B manager was a smooth talker but it didn't convince me that their food was one of the best. If you have a very good chef, he should know that you don't leave desserts like Panna Cotta out on the buffet. It should be served chilled because it's made out of cream unless you want your guests to suffer from a very bad case of diarrhea! We are in Bicol, so we would expect the famous Bicolano food and delicacies! You can't even get a decent coconut drink! I was hoping it will be served in a coconut shell since Bicol is abundant in coconut! They served it in a pilsner glass with a straw that was not long enough because you usually use that glass for beer! Another thing that bothered me was the roasted calf served at a party the previous night it was recycled the next day! They had so many beef rib dishes on the lunch buffet! Maybe they should not make it too obvious!
Service...horrible! The HR even told us that if we have any complaints regarding her staff we should inform her! No! There is nothing wrong with her staff...there is definitely something wrong with her!!!! The resort is undermanned! We already have pile of plates on our table, but nobody seemed to be clearing them. No waiter was taking our drink orders, so we had to do it ourselves. Go to the bar, order your drinks and pick them up later! I started talking to the locals and all of them work for more than 12 hours! Our waiter for dinner was the same person who assisted us in our baggage, he was at the front desk assisting us when we were checking out and he was the same person who drove us to the airport! He even assisted us in checking in at Cebu Pacific! Is that butler service or what?! J.G Henry was an excellent employee! Multi tasking but I think the management is abusing it!
Did I mention what time we were able to get our rooms? It was around 3:30 pm! We wasted the whole day hanging out at the coffee shop! The F&B manager was trying very hard to make our very vacation memorable but he failed! He even mentioned that the hotel already changed management three times! The new recruits were mostly from El Nido and they were probably overwhelmed with the size of Misibis! The hotel facilities are good, very nice swimming pool kids will surely enjoy. Beach rating...VERY VERY POOR! Too many broken corals and rocks!!!! We were told that before the resort was built there were so many cyanide and dynamite fishing! Thank you for telling me after I already dipped in the rocky beaches of Misibis! So now I glow in the dark! =)
I do not recommend a visit to Misibis during peak season, unless they increase manpower and the place is properly managed. If you are a beach lover like me forget about Misibis and with the amount of money I paid for this package....NOT WORTH IT! I have to agree Misibis does not deserve the SLH recognition! I can say more but I guess the space may not be enough. I wanted to attach pictures, but I do not want to add more insult to injury.
