“Couple on Holida”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2012

We hollidayed at The Manolya hotel over Christmas. The hotel was fairly quiet as this is their off season but we had a really good time. The staff we amazing, so friendly and we felt we were part of a great big familly. North Cyprus is a little gem, it has a very relaxed feel to it, you are welcomed everywhere, nothing is too much trouble. It is cooler over the winter but still has bright sunny clear days. We were there on a walking holliday and it was just perfect.

Room Tip: we stat second floor if you want sea and mountain view ask for this rooms

Our first visit to Northern Cyprus and this hotel more than came up to our expectations. We booked half board in advance and it turned out to be excellent value.
When we arrived late at night we were disappointed with our allocated room but within 12 hours we had been offered an excellent room and from then on we totally enjoyed our holiday at the Manolya Hotel. The Management and Staff were all very polite and attentive and made our holiday a very enjoyable experience. We hired a car for 6 days, all done through Hotel Reception, very reasonable and definitely worth having. We saw pretty much all of Northern Cyprus by the end of our 2 week stay.
The buffet breakfast was good with an excellent choice of eggs, potato, bread, cheese, meat, fruit, cake, yoghurt and preserves.
Evening buffet dinner consisted of 12 - 15 dishes of salads (mezes) all beautifully laid out and decorated plus plates of pickles/chillies and always a hot choice of buffet served by the chef or staff. Only one choice of hot buffet each night but each night of our 14 night stay it was different and delicious!
Swimming pool was very clean as were the terraces surrounding and the dining room and outdoor terrace where (weather permitting) it was a pleasure to sit and enjoy our meal. The owners and family all eat and sit here too and it was a lovely atmosphere when there was live music and entertainment a couple of times a week.
All in all this is a very good value hotel right on the waters edge serving up good value food and service. If you are looking for lively nightlife every night then this is not the place for you. If you like minimal entertainment and a fantastic location then this is for you.
Top marks to Management, Staff and the excellent Chef (from Istanbul)! Great holiday, thanks.

Room Tip: Our allocated room on arrival did not have a balcony and was of duplex style. We did not like it an...

Just back from a really lovely 5 night stay at Manolya Hotel in Lapta
On arrival we were met by the owner's son Mehmet and his Mum
What a great location with our rooms overlooking the beautiful Agean sea
Hotel facilities were very good and while our rooms were perhaps a little tired, they were spotlessly clean and we were very well looked after by the family
We would certrainly not bypass this hotel on our next trip in 2012
Pool area was excellent, and an easy access to the sea which we thoroughly enjoyed
It is very conveniently located and had all the amenieties required for our short stay
Thanks to Mehmet and his family, not forgetting the great staff, for our most enjoyable stay and hope to see you all again next year Best wishes from the Duncan and Pearson family from Beldibi and Northern Ireland

My daughter (25) and I (50) spent a week at this hotel and we loved it! It is located directly at sea. Easy access to the sea, lovely swimming pool (Some of the sun beds and parasols could do with some improvement though.). Terrace and restaurant with sea view. Breakfast, a la carte lunch and dinner (buffet) all good. People who work there are very kind and polite. We had a spacious room downstairs, at pool level. (Note that not all rooms are as big as this one.) Room is simple, with a small television set, a fridge and air conditioning. Really comfortable beds. Bathroom is basic.
There's a sandy beach within walking distance (3 minutes). Several nice restaurants and small supermarkets nearby. (We liked Palm Beach restaurant best for its location, garden setting and really nice service.) Hop on and off dolmus buses come and go to take you to Girne.

We had a B&B deal which suited us and judging by what was on offer we were happy with our choice.
The rooms were cleaned daily and the mini bar replenished as and when the person responsible felt like it. Keep close eye on the chits left by the bar staff when they replenish and make sure you check the mini bar contents after the replen.
The staff were very polite and amiable even when dealing with complaints. The hotel was quite full and it was still quiet around the pool area. Entertainment seems to stop around midnight so you can get a good nights sleep. Ideal hotel for people who want to scuba dive as the PADI dive centre is at the hotel and the dive boat leaves from there, unless you're diving the Zenobia in Larnaca which involves a 1.5 hour car ride.
Overall a relaxing holiday and an adequate hotel even though it does need some major refurbishment. The pool side rooms may be your best bet at approximately £42.00 per night.

We (2 adults, 2 teenagers) stayed in Hotel Manolya for one week in August 2011.
They got us 2 rooms next to eachother, which we found a big plus. But it was right there where the plus ended... The rooms were dated, but ok. But the bathrooms were terrible. Mould everywhere and one day there was a cockroach in our shower cabin! The rooms were cleaned every day, so the little guest disappeared, but we didn't feel very safe showering! The owner forbade us to take water from outside inside the hotel. Eventhough the water we bought was of exact the same brand! He said he would loose his ISO certificate if he allowed us to take non certified water into the hotel. Such nonsense. The water we boucht had an iso 9001 certificate! Which can't be said of the rooms! Furthermore the breakfast: there was plenty but very tasteless. The pool was kept neat and clean. When going for a swim in the sea.. the sea was not so clean. Undefined stuff floating everywhere. The diningroom and the entrance were clean. On day one we took a look into the kitchen -> not so clean, so we decided not to have our dinner there! The restaurant nextdoor (called Hanimeller) was excellent! Everything was very clean over there. Excellent personnel we loved it!
On the departure day the hotel offered us a room for a few more hours. Of course we had to pay for this extra time, but we didn't mind. That brought everything more or less to a good end. The hotel has great potential. If they renovate the bathrooms and take better care of the food (eg. cool the butter, jam, cheese etc) it will be worth a 3 star rating. Now we found it worth only 2. Location of the hotel is great. For those who don't mind mould and tasteless breakky it's a good place to stay. For those who do... get at least a 4 star rated hotel in the North of Cyprus!
