“Lapida Hotel - The New Standard for Hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

In June 2013 my wife and I spent a lovely week in Lapida Hotel, Lapta, Cyprus. Besides that the room is ok, wifi is available, swimming pool and garden are relaxing and the restaurant is good quality, the real beauty of this hotel is that it is pure rather than perfect: Fehti (manager and excellent guide), Mary (with her honest and light Cypriotic kitchen) and their staff provide their service with inner beauty. For us Lapida Hotel set the new standard for hospitality ! Nel & Peter.

Room Tip: just ask Fehti

We spent two weeks at the Lapida Hotel, the first week being a cookery course with local trips, the second week a quiet relaxing week.
The owner Fethi picked us up from Larnaca Airport as arranged, in his air conditioned minibus with complimentary cold drinks.
We had a warm welcome on arrival, sitting in the beautiful garden with home made lemonade made by Fethi's mother Maryam using lemons freshly picked from the garden.
The cookery course, run by Maryam, was simple but fun, using fresh ingredients, some of which came from the garden: chicken and lentil soup, dolmades, boregis, cacik, hummus, olive bread, cheese bread, home made lemonade and many others. We were impressed by the spotless hygiene, although the written recipes could have been clearer. Everything that was cooked we ate with great gusto!
The trips with Fethi included Bellapais and Kyrenia on one day, Nicosia another day (for a modest additional cost), mountain walks orchid spotting and herb collecting, a trip to the local market and a trip around Lapta and Lambousa. We also went to the Blue House followed by lunch in a local sea front restaurant.
The hotel was small and friendly; service was very attentive; table d'hote food was always home made with drinks prices being very reasonable.
Our room was very pleasant, and on the whole clean, with fresh towels and linen changed every couple of days. The air-conditioning was very good, but we suggest you buy mosquito repellant and take your own toiletries.
Our bedroom had spectacular views of the mountains, the sea and the garden from our small balcony and windows.
Lighting was good enough to read at night. Tea and coffee making facilities, a small fridge and room safe were all in the room.
The television only had local programmes in Turkish.
The most enjoyable things about the hotel were the gardens where one could sit in sun or shade, in chairs, loungers or hammocks, or by the lovely secluded swimming pool. We were encouraged to pick and eat as much fruit as we liked from the garden.
The outside dining area was very pretty with all the tables featuring ironwork made by Fethi himself.
The interior of the hotel was similarly individualistic with Fethi's ironwork, antiques, pictures and ornaments.
A great place for a relaxing holiday with a difference.

Just returned from a week at the Lapida Hotel. We chose this hotel because we liked the idea of a family run small hotel and not some impersonal hotel complex. Fethi and his mother Mary were the perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them or their staff. The garden was packed with fruit trees and other produce and was a lovely place to spend some time. It had been well thought out for the guests - hammocks and seating areas in both the sun and the shade, all leading down to an immacutely clean pool. Mary prepared all the food - a lot of the time using produce from the garden. Lemons were picked from the trees and the next thing we had beautiful lemonade. The food was all freshly prepared and tasted fabulous - no buffet in site!!!! We shall certainly be returning later in the year and would recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Northern Cyprus.

Room Tip: Didn't mean to click on the Fitness Centre button, as the hotel doesn't have one.

We have recently returned from our first visit to Northern Cyprus. We wanted to stay in a small, friendly hotel and to have a relaxing time. Our choice of the Lapida hotel ticked all the boxes. Our host, Fethi, his wonderful mother Mary and all the staff could not do enough for us. We where made to feel very much " at home." When we needed to relax the beautiful garden with so many fruit trees and a lovely swimming pool provided the ideal spot. When we wanted to explore more of the island Fethi and Mary provided just the right options and variety of location. We have told all our friends about Lapta and The Lapida Gardens Hotel and if we returned for another visit it would be no surprise.

What a magical place! Fethi and his mother Mary are so very warm, caring and kind. We had an amazing tour day with Fethi and then were treated to the most marvelous meal! We have never seen such an array of sumptuous food - all prepared by Mary! (You know the food is good when the locals eat there!). If you are tired of hotel life, boring food and the company of nameless faces - you can't come here fast enough. This is 'at-home' relaxation, with exceptional service!

We travelled to Northern Cytprus with the Discovery Collection, which is a boutique travel agency specialising in 'different' trips. Visited this hotel in March 2013, for a cookery course with Mary, the owner's mum. It's a lovely well kept place with a garden stuffed with an amazing variety of fruit trees. Fethi the owner is a brilliant chap, who arranged some excursions to places in Northern Cyprus that most tourists never get to, such as some overgrown tombs and Roman fish farms on the coast nearby. In fact Fethi's advice and guidance on the history and features of the country were the best thing about our visit to Northern Cyprus. If you need a great guide, a nice place to stay, and great local food then you can't beat this little family run hotel-our visit wouldn't have been half as much fun without Fethi and Mary's help.

Family run hotel as described by other reviewers. Good location - secluded (so a car is essential) and quiet. We stayed as a party of 4 adults and 3 kids (aged 6-11); the pool was more than big enough for the size of the hotel, and is where the kids spent most of the time. The hotel has lovely mature gardens which have seating and tables for dining; it also has a fantastic mountain backdrop which adds to the chilled out atmosphere. The rooms are a good standard, big enough and have air conditioning but all seem to have different decoration and amenities. Food was as previously described (we were half board) and portions were huge...Mary was able to sort out a chicken based dish for the kids if they didn't fancy the fixed menu for that night. Definitely not for party seekers, but ideal for families and couples looking for a bit of relaxed sun worship & pool time.
