“Be ready for a feast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012 via mobile

I don't usually feel compelled to write reviews, but it would be a shame not to tell anyone about this gem of a restaurant. So what can I tell you about this place? First off, it was jam-packed full of locals, even on a week night. Reservations would be a good idea for a weekend dinner. We went for dinner, I ordered off the menu, while my wife had the set menu for 19€, which included a choice of 1 appetizer, main dish, a generous cheese platter and a dessert. I chose a steak which was seasoned and cooked to perfection, while my wife had the duck kebabs coated in honey. Both were amazing and the steak was big enough for two. Total price including a drink, one set menu and one a la carte : 38€!

“Excellent restorant - not for vegetarians”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

We had an excellent dinner for those who eat meat, but nothing for vegeterians.
The service was nice, the food surprisingly good, and the price very reasonable - Eur 19 for a very generous menu.

“Fantastic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

Just what we were looking for after a long trip to get here

We selected the set menu speciality of "Garbure" comprising a cassoulet of pork and duck and vegetable. This was indeed a real barnyard massacre

The service was great food outstanding and the staff were friendly and patrons were all local plus good value for money

“Just What We Were Looking For...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2011

This may look to be a fairly ordinary restaurant from the road (it is in Guchan, on the right of the main road travelling between Arreau and St Lary) but it is a really good place to enjoy a well-cooked meal.
On arrival you will find that there is plenty of car parking space immediately outside. Once inside, the seating and tables are well spaced apart and, overall, it is a comfortable place to have an evening meal. In good weather there is also the option to eat outdoors on a large terrace adjoining the main building. The decor inside is rustic but also clean and bright, with attractive place settings on the tables.
Service is friendly and efficient. The staff seem to genuinely want to be helpful and are attentive. Both waitresses that served us spoke very good English but were happy for us to try our French when we wanted and as well as we could.
The menu offers plenty of choice and reflects the food of the local area (duck, lamb, pork & beef) though seafood also features extensively. As with virtually all restaurants in France, there are a selection of set-menus at different prices, as well as the option to choose individual dishes from La Carte. Whatever choices you make, you are unlikely to go hungry - the dishes are hearty and portions are substantial! There is a good wine list with reasonable prices and the option to buy some wines by the glass as well.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here with friends and all agreed it was an excellent "find". I've no hesitation in recommending the restaurant to anyone with a good appetite!
