“Excellent service and what a view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

We arrived just after noon and room was not quite ready so we had lunch The head waiter was extreme attentive and soon knew our room number and showed us the table he had reserved for us for dinner. My partner was unfortunately unwell and we retired early from dinner. It was warm and our windows were open and we were plagued by yapping dogs left by their owners enjoying a more leisurely dinner. I complained and the manageress was very understanding and promptly moved us to a lovely room in the castle where we stayed two nights.
The view from the terrace is outstanding, the staff very friendly and helpful and the food very good
Don't miss the owner's tour of his wine production and cellars plus free tasting of four wines

Room Tip: If can afford it a suite in the castle Could not rate fitness centre nor spa

We were lucky enough to spend our wedding day at the Schloss Korb hotel. It was just the two of us as we eloped. I can't imagine a more beautiful, romantic and fairytale place to spend a wedding. It's perfect for any type of special occasion.

The views from the hotel are just gorgeous. Mountains, Vineyards, Castles. It's picture perfect.

The staff were wonderful. Andreas at reception was great. So friendly. Peter from the restaurant is a great source of information on the wines and instantly makes you feel comfortable. Danielle at the front desk going above her duties if you have any questions. And the owners Fritz and Ruth couldn't be nicer. Ruth, truly and honestly thrilled to see us getting married there and doing everything she could, personally herself, to ensure we had a perfect day.

We noticed other tables at breakfast and/or dinner had special or different things set up..... I assume for birthdays or anniversary. It is a nice touch, and very personal, by the hotel to recognize special occasions.

There is no need to be concerned about language either. Most of the staff spoke brilliant English. Communicating with them, even though we don't speak any Italian or German, was never a problem.

The food is outstanding. Every course, every night, was just delicious. We gained 5 lbs after our 5 night stay. Their own wine is delicious as well. Ask Peter for recommendations. Breakfast buffet was abundant, fresh foods, lots of choices with the breads, meats, fruits, teas. Scrambled eggs and sausages as well. We left breakfast each morning feeling full. The view from breakfast and dinner, while sitting out on terrace - phenomenal. If it's too cold to sit outside, that's ok as the inside dining area is gorgeous as well and you feel like you really are in a castle. We were able to work with the chef to customize our own 6 course wedding dinner. Each course better than the last. Delicious.

We had the Romeo and Juliet Suite. It was so romantic and beautiful. Perfect. There were 3 windows, all with outstanding views. 2 full bathrooms in the suite as well! A separate sitting area with sliding doors to separate it from the sleeping area. At night, leave the curtains on the window next to the bed open and you'll be greeted by a gorgeous sunrise over the mountains. There was even a little staircase off the sitting room, that went to nowhere but it had a window at the bottom of it and just fit with the whole castle fairy tale theme.

I recommend you take a tour of the wine cellar, walk up to Castle Boymount and wander around the village of San Paulo. Merano is just 20 minutes away.

If you can, ask the hotel to setup a picnic for you with a bottle of wine. Very romantic, great food and outstanding views of the vineyards.

The outdoor pool area was very nice and a relaxing place to spend an afternoon. There was even waiter service if you wanted a drink or snack. There are restrooms there and a changing room.

If you are getting married at the hotel, ask them about using one of their cars to bring you to the ceremony - we had a gold Bentley which fit with the whole castle theme. They will also put rose petals in your room on the wedding night and light candles. They took care of getting the wedding cake, my flowers, the hair stylist, setting up a gorgeous and romantic secluded table for dinner for us on the terrace.

I really can't say enough great things about this hotel. We can't wait to go back.

Excellent Hotel with lots of History . Particular care is given to all the details. The staff is at all times helpful and infomative. We had a beautiful suite with amazing decorative flair. Breakfast and Dinner always a highlight, particularly when, weatherwise, taken on the terrace . We always enjoy (our fourth visit) the TRANQUILITY and that the hotel DOESN'T cater for 'loud' entertainment.' It is relaxation pure' .

The hotel is very nicely located with amazing views over the wine yards and Bolzano from the restaurant, tennis courts and most rooms. However, even though we stayed in a renovated room we felt that the bathroom needed some updates. The shower was tiny and after two minutes in there, the whole bathroom was flooded. we only had one breakfast there but that was disappointing. Even though it we didn't arrive at the end of the breakfast time, most things were gone or looked really old. There were little flies on the fruit, it just didn't look very tasteful. But that would be easy to change. Otherwise the hotel has a lot of lovely character and again, the view is breath taking!

Dear Katinka,

thank you for your review. We are terrible sorry, that you couldn't enjoy your breakfast... Normally we have Fans next to the breakfast-buffet to keep the fruit flies away... We can't understand that we've forgotten to switch them on... and even if you come late for breakfast, when the buffet-hour is over, you should have for guaranted an "à la carte - breakfast"! Please accept our apoligize!

We are really sad, that your expectations about the room weren't fulfilled... every room has its own character!

We wish you all the best and maybe we'll see you again at Schloss Hotel Korb!
The doors are open (next time definitely without fruit flies)!

We stayed 2 nights with our children (12 & 13) in early July - it was reasonably quiet at the time as school holidays had not yet started however understand it can get quite busy. We were the only ones using the pools (indoor and outdoor) despite the 30deg heat.

Location is amazing - views across the vineyards to Bolzano and the mountains. Dining on the terrace was the perfect place to enjoy the views. The restaurant is superb - we dined two nights and would happily have stayed longer and sampled even more.

Our rooms were in the newer section but very well appointed with spacious terrace.

Overall a very classy hotel, good service and a faultless 2 nights.

After my first attempt in May, I was finally able to get here in August. Very nice location, as you would expect from a 4-star castle hotel in Southern Tyrol, immersed in proprietary vineyards (OK-level wines, as far as I could tell) and on top of a hill with beautiful views. The bar and restaurant's terrace, and the menu itself, are worth the trip. The tower suite was below my expectations in terms of space, logistics and ergonomics. But the view and the tranquillity are great.

This is an amazing spot. I admit to being a bit biased, as my ancestors built the original castle (the Korb family- it is owned by a different family now, but still has the name. Original castle first documented in the 13th century). I was hoping I would like it, because we went for our honeymoon, and it was expensive for us, but it far surpassed even my expectations. The family that owns it is very detail oriented and I was impressed with their management. We stayed in the original castle, and then moved to the addition wing which is in a separate place on the property. The rooms were a bit small, which is normal for a historic building and also for Italy, but very nice. The staff was super helpful (Peter is the best professional waiter of all time!) and the front desk staff is tri-lingual, also helpful. I should mention it is a little far from town, like 20 minutes, so the cab ride was pricey.

The grounds are gorgeous, with two beautiful pools, vineyards, a lawn with chairs to relax on, a couple of fountains and tennis courts...I didn't want to leave. The food was amazing, and you eat in a flower draped outdoor terrace with views of the mountains in every direction. The wine was the best I had anywhere in Italy, though I liked the whites more than the reds, so I suppose that only goes for their white wines. I got a massage while I was there, and also had a picnic high up in the vineyard that they set up in a little pavilion for us...very romantic. The place might also appeal to history buffs, as the original castle is at least 700 years old, and there is a WWII bunker on the property that has been turned into a wine cellar. (Note, we were actually there in 2008, but it doesn't allow me to date my review that far back, and I only just joined tripadvisor).

This was a picture perfect place for a honeymoon.

Room Tip: The rooms in the castle have a bit more character, but the rooms in the addition are just as lovely...
