A complete failure in every way!
Booked a 4 bedroom unit months in advance for a 7 night stay for which we paid well over $4000. We were assigned to a unit that had 3 bedrooms, and one "bonus" room, which was not a bedroom, but rather an alternative living room. There were absolutely no window coverings in the living room, or the bonus room. One other bedroom had flimsy shades which hardly sufficed. The "bonus" room had not a bed, but rather a sofa-bed. Between the double sized sofa bed and no window coverings this room was useless. The living room could not be utilized as a bedroom as it had no sofa bed and zero window coverings. Gave mgmt every opportunity to make things right and their response was that there were no other units available, and they could send us 2 miles down and put us in two 2 bedroom units at Portofino. The paper shades they provided for the "bonus room" did nothing. We stayed because we had no choice, and the conversations with the onsite manager Jessicka led us to believe that they would do the right thing in making adjustments. They took $100 off per night, (and gave us cards for 4 free entrees at their restaurant which also left a lot to be desired) which was hardly compensation for the ruination of a family vacation! They flat out lied when asked if any of their units had at least minimum standards they had to meet to be a vacation rental. They kept asking us if we booked through VRBO and we had to keep telling them that it was booked directly through their office. (beware when booking through VRBO, apparently you will be treated second class) We were supposed to get cards for free beach chairs, which we did not get. We did not even get the proper welcome package which all other guests received. (we did get our keys and card in a nice brown envelope though)
Other issues: nice large pool in the center of 3 buildings, which number well over 100 units and yet there were only 27 lounge chairs! (dont think you'll get one unless you get out there by 9:00 am) The security codes & cards are overkill and ridiculous! To get into the fully gated propertys parking lot you need a code or card. To get into the lobby, you need a code or card. To catch an elevator (which is 5 feet from the lobby entrance) - yes, a code or card (after making it through the parking lot and lobby) To get to or from the lobby to the indoor pool - you need a card (not a code), to get to or from the indoor pool to the outdoor area - a card (not a code). Sounds like fun huh....especially when they give you only 2 cards for a supposedly 4 bedroom unit!! Overall the property is nice, but the units are no nicer than any other less than 10 year old property. The management leaves a lot to be desired. Beware when you book, be sure to ask what the bedding is (who would think you'd have to ask if a bedroom actually has a bed in it or not), ask if there are curtains or drapes, and also ask if there are television sets in the bedrooms or not, as only 2 of the rooms had tv's in them.
