Went to Peg Leg Pete's on New Years Eve. We had been in Pensacola Beach for a few days and PLP was recommended to us by our hotel the first night we arrived. We had driven by there several times---and ALWAYS---saw a line out the door and skipped going there several nights because we didn't want to wait. We decided that the fact that it was always busy must mean (hopefully!) that there was something good inside! We decided that we would try it out for New Years Eve. We arrived and were very surprised to find that there was no wait. It was very busy with people in two bar areas and a couple of different dining areas (inside or outside on heated deck). We ended up sitting inside in the main dining area. Our server, Mark, was very nice and helpful with the menu. For appetizers we ended up ordering some peel-in-eat shrimp and gumbo. The peel-in-eat were cooked to perfection and were VERY fresh and easy to peel. The gumbo had lots of sausage and was spicy with authentic flavor like it should be! For entrees we ordered the parmesan oysters, seafood mixed grill (consisting of grilled scallops, grouper and shrimp) and chicken parmesan (for the non-seafood eating kid in the group!). All of the food was very hot, fresh and flavorful. You could taste some of the char from the grill in the mixed grill and the parmesan oysters had just the right amount of butter/garlic. Overall, I would highly recommend PLPs....it was a great way to close out the year!!
