“we loved it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

we stayed at ft Pickens camp ground the week of the fourth of July in a pop up, our neighbors were great! and we found it to be very nice. the restrooms were small but the showers were warm and the bathroom was cleaned daily.. Langdon beach on the ocean side was not crowded and the water was beautiful, we will definatly be coming back next summer and I;m already making plans!

We stayed here in our pop-up for a few nights. If you are looking for any amount of privacy than this is not the place to go! It really seemed as if everyone was on top of each other! The bathrooms in circle D were not clean at all. It is very quiet at night and we did enjoy the walk to the beach. Pensacola Beach is beautiful and the drive to and from the campground is just gorgeous! However, we stayed at Grayton Beach previous to staying at Ft. Pickens and I would definitely recommend Grayton over Ft. Pickens!

We have been camping at Fort Pickens since 2000. We have always been treated with respect. Our last trip was March 2012. The employees at the campground registration were very rude. Just be aware!! Other than those women, we love the campground. It is our most favorite place to camp in the USA. The gulf waters are gorgeous, and not many people there. Give it a try. But don't expect any respect from the registration office.

My two friends and I stayed here for one night on a 5 week road trip from Washington state. We wish we could've stayed longer and are already planning to come back! We loved the campground and had friendly neighbors. Everything felt safe and it was very quiet at night. Our bathroom didn't have any electrical outlets, but the showers were some of the best we've seen in a campground! The next day we explored the fort and walked on the beach. Lots of lovely, soft white sand and we saw 10 or so sting rays swimming around the point! This campground was one of the prettiest places we've ever camped!

We camped 8 days and loved it. Camper sites were always kept clean wonderful family atmosphere quiet even before the 10'oclock quiet time even though the campground was full. our only recommendation is that people walking their dogs should be required to use pooper scoopers and dispose of properly even the ones with the big motorhomes and there should be some way to prevent people from dumping sewage at the dump station without a hose. please people be considerate of other campers.

When it's spring break and you want a wholesome family place to go....good luck! Fort Pickens is a safe wonderful place to enjoy a relaxing stress free vacation. The park is full of retired folks and young families- no unruly party kids or drunken idiots to be vulgar or foolish. The views are spectacular, the fort has great history, the bay side is a great place to snorkel & escape the wind. We always see the Blue Angels practicing. Bring your bikes & enjoy. We love it here every year.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2012

We camped here a few weeks ago (Feb 2012). Let me start out by saying this isn't the Fort Pickens Campground I remember as a kid. After Hurricane Ivan it has changed, not as many trees and shade and I think it's probably taking a while for some of the wild life to come back too which is sad. But I also think they might have added some more camping spots (not positive on this) and made it a little more congested. It feels like the campsites are right on top of each other. It seems like it would probably be okay for those in big rigs who don't really do much outside of their resort campers, but for those in tents, it leaves you with very little, to no privacy at all from your neighbors. We camp with our kids ages 7 and 4 and without any sort of barrier in between camp sites it can be hard to know where our site ends and the other one begins, especially to kids. We had a great time anyways and the kids loved it. But personally, I was a little disappointed with the lack of privacy. We love Pensacola Beach and the Fort itself, but we probably won't camp here again unless we were to get only a few select sites that I scoped out. Also, the bathrooms were old and kind of dirty, not a game changer for me, but may be for some, one plus though is they were heated which was nice in the cold weather. Make sure to bring in your own handsoap and paper towels to wash your hands.

Room Tip: Take a ride through the campground before choosing a site if possible, the pictures online can be de...
