Our wedding was on September 1st, 2013. When we sent out the invitations to our wedding guests who are mainly from Toronto and West of the city telling them we were having our wedding East of the city in a place many of them had never heard of there were some complaints, but at the wedding people came up to us and said "this place is incredible and worth the drive!" The outdoor ceremony and tented reception were both stunning and done with class and elegance. Their property is extremely well groomed and kept with easy access for wheelchairs which was required at our wedding.
The entire process from inquiring about the venue to the actual wedding day was pleasant because the staff makes everything so easy. My husband and I felt very taken care of by all the staff and all of our requests were heard and accommodated in a professional and warm-hearted manner; there is no lack of smiley faces in their email correspondence.
A wedding planner, Claudia, is included in the wedding package and she really knows her stuff and did her best to make our wedding vision a reality. We would show her pictures from Pinterest or other websites and she would just make it happen or let you know how modifications can be made to work within your budget and theme.
Our immediate family and relatives stayed at the Inn overnight after the wedding and they loved the rooms. Erica prepared a delicious brunch for overnight guests the next morning and makes you feel like family, she was actually conversing in German with some of our guests who travelled from Germany! It's hard not to fall in love with that lady and the rest of the staff.
We did not have to worry about anything on the wedding day and if something unexpected popped up, the coordinators just used their ear pieces like well trained CIA agents to resolve any issues.
some unique aspects of our wedding were that I arrived to the ceremony on horse (Pete) & carriage, we had a harpist play some songs along with the DJ for the ceremony, the coordinator set up a beautiful sculpted petal path along the isle and we took their red canoe for a joy ride on the water after the ceremony which made for some great pictures/video and our guests loved the sneak peak before the reception entrance. My little sister sang a slow song at the reception and we ended off the night with a sparkler send off, which was beautifully orchestrated and lots of fun!
If you are thinking of doing your wedding there, check out their Facebook page under albums for ideas. Our Album is there under "The one my soul loves" Cindy and Richard. Deborah stays up late the night of the wedding creating your album with the pictures she takes and writes you a poem describing the night, all while getting your envelopes and belongings organized safely for an easy exit the next morning. She also gave us a CD with all the pictures the next day.
We chose Derek Leung as our caterer who makes a mean crème brulee which was delicious. We served a choice of top sirloin, salmon and chicken stuffed with mushroom risotto. Everything was incredible but some guests complained that their steak was too rare, but they were immediately accommodated. we also had a beautiful heirloom tomato salad which was so colourful. Derek is truly a Master chef and his love of food is contagious which was evident when we met him for the tasting, which might be the best meal I have ever had!
The only issue some guests had was that the bar closed during dinner service. We were aware of this ahead of time and had wine on the tables, but the venue has to comply with certain bylaws and this was one of them, along with only serving 1 drink per guest at a time, no doubles and no shots. At first I was disappointed with this but it really prevents guests from getting too drunk and sick, which is a great safely measure especially with the pond so close at night. Guests were the perfect amount of drunk; dancing and having fun all night.
This place is the best, we had a beautiful wedding, so much fun and everything was care-free. I highly recommend this venue and will return to visit on our anniversary and special occasions. Thanks to all the staff!!! :)
