“Highly Reccomend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2007

I highly reccomend this trail. It is great for people who do not have the time or energy to do the longer hikes to the top of the canyon. Let your car do the work for you and take the Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway through the park up the side of the canyon until you get to the east enterence of the tunnel. There you park and find the begining of the trail.

The trail is not that steep, but it does get narrow in some places with a steep drop off on the side. Once you get to the end of the trail you will get a spectacular view of the canyon. You will also get to see Pine Creek and the windy road up the side of the canyon. Make sure you bring your camera, you won't be disappointed!

“Best views of the park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2007

This is a relatively short hike that isn't highlighted very well in the literature, but its one of the best hikes you'll take in terms of scenery. It starts just east of the tunnel on the Mt. Carmel Highway. It doesn't look like much, the start of the hike is right near the guards shack. It goes straight up the hill in the form of steps. But go. And enjoy the views. I would say go later in the afternoon so you can really enjoy. I think it has some of the best views of the park. Its so overwhelming, you'll think you just stepped into heaven. Breathtaking.

“Very scenic trail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2006

We started this hike at 9:30 a.m. mid-May and it was already getting too warm. A couple of segments of the trail are in shadow but the rest is exposed to the sun. You will have good views throughout this trail. We saw more wildflowers on this trail than we did anywhere else in the park. The trail climbs but in most places it's fairly gradual, so not too taxing. I say this as someone who comes from a city with an elevation of 900 feet, and who is 50ish with bad knees and anemia (meaning that I get fatigued and out of breath very easily).

“Great hike!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2006

This hike begins at the east end of the Zion Tunnel. It is about a mile and has little elevation gain, so is relatively easy. The hardest part of the hike is at the beginning. The trail travels above the Virgin (??) River, looking down into its narrow slot-like canyon. You walk under an overhang where the green growth is thick because of moisture. At the end you have a nice canyon view too.
