“Special place to stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

Second stay at Zion Lodge and luckily one of the first to book in at 4pm. I say luckily because we were given a top floor room next to and above the hotel laundry. The heat and noise was unbearable and we would have been unable to sit out on our balcony which we were looking forward to. We phoned reception and in all fairness to them they swapped our room to the one across the corridor at the front of the block.
Apart from the initial room allocation we had yet again a fabulous stay. The wildlife being so close is amazing and the sky at night from our balcony is awesome. Have a shot at the narrows but wear closed toe shoes and take poles. Perfect hotel, perfect place.

Room Tip: Avoid being put near laundry.

This isn't a luxury hotel, but for its rating it's very good indeed. The location is fantastic - right in the heart of the canyon - and the rooms are perfectly fine and a good size. The lighting is a bit dim, but our experience so far shows that this seems to be a feature of US hotels. Staff are very friendly. Breakfast is a bit of a let down. The buffet was not great, although the menu items were ok.

We stayed in one of the cabins facing the cliffs and enjoyed sitting on the porch and just soaking in the fantastic, ultra-relaxing setting. As another writer mentioned, from these front cabins you can view the colors of sunrise and sunset. The cabin was neat and clean, nothing fancy, but who cares? We found no critters sharing our digs, and we had everything we needed. The lodge restaurant had some nice offerings and there was a tiny takeout place offering coffee and junk food. Something more midrange would be nice and convenient as another option. The park offers hikes at various levels of difficulty, and photo ops are all around you. The lodge has a nice, cool reception area with comfortable stuffed couches and chairs, and can serve as a convenient pit stop to cool down after a hike. Zion gets very crowded and steaming hot in the summer and it's best to visit in the shoulder season. This was our second visit and we hope to have many more in this beautiful park.

Room Tip: Ask for a cabin facing the cliffs.

Zion Lodge is the only lodge inside Zion National Park which makes it a very convenient base to access the park. We stayed here for one night in early October 2012. We were unable to get a reservation for two consecutive nights, so for the second night we stayed in one of the hotels located just outside the park. We were a group of 5 and the hotel room had 2 queen beds, so they provided a rollaway bed for the fifth person. The rollaway bed was much better than rollaways that I have seen in other hotels. Not as comfortable as the queen beds, but quite decent and provided a good nights sleep. The room was clean, with good decor and furnishings seemed pretty new. The room had a patio with very nice view of the lodge lawns and surrounding hills. Comparing prices with hotels outside the park, they were pretty much in the same range. Would certainly recommend staying in Zion Lodge compared to hotels outside the park. All in all, great place to stay in Zion.

We stayed here for 2 days back in 8/2011. Zion was absolutely amazingly beautiful. We stayed in cabin on property. It was rustic, but clean, functional, and extremely convenient. After hiking each day, it great to just hop on a park shuttle and go straight back to our room. We at each night in the lodge restaurant. Food was fresh and delicious each night.

Highly recommend a trip to Zion and staying in the park at the Lodge. A hike up the canyon to the Narrows is not be missed. Recommend renting appropriate footware from outfitters right outside the park. We went to Bryce & Grand Canyon on this trip & Zion by far was my favorite!

If your going to Zion National Park, specially during the summer, the Zion Lodge is definitely the most convenient place to stay. Being inside the park and having the option of hiking out from the front door, no shuttles necessary is really worthwhile, even if you have limited dinning options.
Scenery and surroundings are spectacular. The drive into Zion from the east is amazing.
Lodge itself is ok. Stayed in a four person cabin which had sufficient room. The queen size beds are on the small side (good for children).

We drove from Monument Valley to reach Zion Lodge. The road in from the east is simply stunning. The lodge was clean and comfortable and had that rustic charm about it. Nothing flash, but you are there to sleep and should be spending the time walking on trails. We only had one night here on our way back to Vegas. Would love to have had another night at least.

Room Tip: Keep an eye our for the deers late in the afternoon outside your rooms. The kids love to watch them.
