The Zion Narrows were gorgeous on a scale that isn't matched by many other natural wonders. The wide variety of distinct colors, the sheer immensity of the canyon walls, and the beauty of the sparse vegetation was overwhelming. We went in the beginning of September and our timing couldn't have been better. The water was cold without being offensive, the crowds were smaller than other times of the year, the temps in the canyon were perfect, and the water levels were never above our waists really. This hike is strenuous enough to be a challenge if you hike/wade all the way to the waterfall and and to still be enjoyable for the less active types. Some words of advice: Start earlier in the morning; wear sturdy, waterproof footwear; and take along a set of hiking poles. We witnessed many slips and falls from people that were geared up inadequately. Make sure that you take along spare batteries, because you will be taking thousands of photos!
