What a great way to hike and see the American Frontier the way it once was.

“Day Hikes are Great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2012

Most trails are easy to get to; there are loops and short hikes for day trips within easy access from either Skyline Drive or the Blue Ridge Parkway; the Parkway is free, the Drive requires a National Park Pass with several options for paying. Either way, a great place to hike with scenic views and wonderful flora and fauna.

“Perfect Fall Foliage”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2011

We only did a small part of the AT, so can't really provide any advice or tips on taking on that challenge...but the portion we were on (between RipRap and Wildcat) was well maintained, well marked, and scenic with the fall foliage.

“First Backpacking Trip -- Gotta Say I Just Found a New Hobby”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2011

I saw a bear. I saw a freakin' bear!!! I've never seen a bear in my life. At first I was terrified but the bear was so curious and ran off after deciding we weren't a worth while meal :).

Beautiful views.

We hiked from Milam Gap for about 3 miles, camped for the night and then turned around.

It's SO quiet, you can see the stars at night and when you finish your hike it's like finishing a marathon. It is SO satisfying.

Talking about this makes me want to go hiking again!!!
