“Family Camp magic”

You're at 7500 ft. surrounded by forest and mountains. You can make beaded jewelry or tie-dye or hike in the wilderness or simply sit in a chair and read your book. The kids have every activity imaginable. Guitar playing or riding or water skiing, wake boarding, bouldering, trampoline, swimming in the pool or the lake..... It goes on and on. Three meals a day in the lodge. This place offers an amazing family vacation. We've been going back year after year. Magical place.

Our whole family LOVES Montecito! The best memories of our summer were made here, enjoying all kinds of fun activities as well as the fresh air and beautiful views found at Montecito Sequoia Lodge. My husband and I really enjoyed the mountain bike riding and hiking. Our kids (age 10 & 13) had fun with their age group of peers doing archery, trampoline, arts & crafts, waterskiing, and even paint ball! All of the counselors at Montecito have incredible enthusiasm and talent. We look forward to morning pow-wows and evening programs where the staff and guests have an opportunity to share their talent and enjoy each others' company. The rooms are very comfortable and we appreciate the extra storage that's been added in recent years. The food is always good, served buffet style, and there's always something for everyone. Even our picky kids were happy with the options provided. This is a great place for families. There's always something to do or enjoy. In addition to the scheduled activities, we enjoy hanging by the lake, skipping rocks, playing ping pong and lounging in the hot tub. It was exciting and relaxing at the same time! We would definitely go again.

I have never been so mislead by TripAdvisor ratings. This place is a dump. Everything except the patio was dirty: room, public spaces, pool, hot tub, bathroom, even buffet plates. The stairway to our room was narrow, poorly lit, and had scuzzy olive green carpet--scary!

The room was a king with a bunk bed, and the top bunk canted when the kid got on it--un-sleep-able. The bathroom was attached, but so small you couldn't get two people in to brush their teeth. No cross ventilation and no A/C. so it got super stuffy at night. Paper thin walls so you couldn't sleep anyway. At breakfast, everyone in the dinning room was complaining of the same problems.

You're basically staying in a really, really expensive, run down, scuzzy hostel.

I have traveled all over the world and stayed in places ranging from renting a hammock on the beach to hostels to 5-star hotels. I will never, ever stay here again and cannot recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Stay away at all costs!

Our family recently stayed at the Lodge. We had two rooms --one in main lodge and second in a cabin. Both were nice, clean and the bathrooms seem to be recently redone. There is no air conditioning so it was a bit noisy outside with cars driving up to the lodge. They do have a quiet on the hall policy at night which was helpful. The staff were extremely nice and accommodating. They have nice food and even late snacks and drinks. I would recommend this lodge when you're in the park. It is very convenient, well signed and easy to find. They don't have hairdryers in the room so do bring yours. Again, excellent and friendly staff.

Room Tip: I would ask for a room not at the end of the hall---it faces the parking lot and we had a lot of car...

While we had not planned to stay at Montecito Sequoia Lodge, we are very happy we did, and we highly recommend it to others. When half of our family members were lost last week on a backpacking trip in Sequoia National Forest, and we went to the lodge because we had no phone service or internet access, the staff welcomed us warmly. Teresa, the manager, insisted we stay at the lodge while we met with the Sheriff’s Office and the Search and Rescue teams. As well as free access to the phone and internet, she offered us hot food and drink, and she and her staff continually reassured us that everything would be fine. When we wanted to be out in the wilderness as early as possible the following morning, a staff member graciously offered to arrive at the lodge at 5:30 am to take care of my younger son, who still can’t stop speaking about all the archery, fencing, arts and crafts and other activities that he later got to try with various staff. After our family members had finally been found, and we returned to the lodge to pick –up my son, and share the good news, we were all invited to stay for a meal. How happy our lost hikers were to eat the lodge's tasty lunch after more than two days without hot food! When we tried to pay for our food and lodging, Teresa declined, insisting that she and the rest of the staff had been happy to help. So, if you want a clean, spacious, family-friendly room, tasty meals (with excellent vegetarian options), friendly, caring staff members, and an action-packed family vacation in a great location, choose the Montecito Sequoia Lodge. We hope to stay there again, but under less stressful circumstances next time!

we visited in April (spring season) . We were attracted by the activities available at the Lodge and the inclusive meals. We decided to stay for 3 nights, 4 days, so we could have a rest day at the lodge - just to be. Our expectations were more than met by friendly, knowledgeable staff; out of this world food (we are not talking camp food, more like 5 star); and wonderful accomadations. On our "just be" day, my husband hiked, while I laid on the couch infront of the fire reading and napping. We met other couples and families from other states and countries. After several campfires, smores and looking at sunsets and stars, I gave myself and husband camp names "tall feather" and "fire lighter". The last day, when we left, we were able to participate in the morning activity of Archery and we have taped our busted yellow balloons (we actually hit them with the arrow) on our bedroom mirror as an ongoing reminder of our wonderful time at Montecito lake. THANK YOU to everyone who made our stay so memorable.

Room Tip: there are rooms at the end of the lodge, with unending views, you can reserve for a few extra dollar...
