“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2012

My wife & I were lucky to get an "opening" last yr & found this to be the best food we had in 5states on west coast. Beautiful place, clean, friendly staff; nice hot tub/pool; HUGE Gaming room w/giant TV & very Historical. Giant top sirloin roast w/asparagus dinner & all the trimmings & breakfast all included in room price. We had the room of the old owners & the view over the Sierras was Incredible. This place makes going to the Sequoias worth the trip at any time of the yr. Very HARD to get a booking for a room here though, and I can understand why it is so much demand. I cannot understand some of the other postings w/negative comments about this place, probably people who got turned away from the door. We were there before the new renovations & I can imagine it is even better now. I would go back Anytime if I could get more time away from my patients. RW of Florence AZ.

A terrific place to stay to be close to the parks. We stayed here 3 days in mid-May so not very crowded. I know this has gotten some great reviews so I just want to tell you why I think it's not so awesome.
What's Good:
-great location
-our rate included room & board; included b-fast, lunch & dinner. We requested box lunches
-our room was a "suite"; had a living room (couch, chairs, table) w/ frig attached to 2 bedroom & a bath
-some food available 24/7 in the lodge

What's not good:
-they run out of food, we arrived at dinner 40 mins after it started & we're left with mystery meat and salad bar
-front desk staff not very knowledge/helpful, at least the 2 people I dealt with (one seemed like she was the boss too, guess she forgot she worked in hospitality )
-very rustic = holes in the walls, lights w/ no shades, no TV, no phones
-walls & light switches very soiled (but overall seemed clean) Lots of use without being "deep" cleaned
-dropped ceiling is old, chipped & collapsing in places
-our bottom floor cabin was very noisy due to the upstairs inhabitants (if the baby was awake, so were we)
To their credit it does look like they are working to improve but wash the walls & cover the holes will go a long way to help improve the stay.

Room Tip: You may have to ask for a room with a bathroom. We were in a cabin that had community bathrooms, ou...

My husband and I just spent a delightful stay at Montecito. This perfect location to enjoy the mountains and the forest was an oasis, having delicious meals (buffet style) and comfortable lodging. I particularly appreciated the 24-hour availability of beverages (as well as soup, fruit and cereal), since I am an early riser and cherish a hot cup of coffee while watching the sunrise and the birds. Monecito provides many indoor and outdoor activities to suit just about anyone. The staff was very pleasant and efficient. I would not hesitate to stay here in the future.

We stayed in one of the lovely rustic cabins to celebrate our anniversary. What a wonderful gift to ourselves. We both loved the opportunity to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Sierras. Wonderful food, wonderful friendly and helpful staff we will be back . We met some wonderful people and spent the evening swapping stories in front of the fireplace. We live in Fresno - only a hour and a half from Montecito Lodge and will use this as a special place to get away and refresh.

My husband and I stayed here in late April- early May 2012.
The service was excellent, staff cheerful and attentive, manager is excellent. Chef is top top top awesome. And he is a really nice guy who loves to see people enjoy the food he prepares.
The views are unbelievable and breathtaking. The walking trails are beautiful.
The room was very clean, big fluffy towels and all bedding was fine.
The views from our room were hard to leave for meals and walks, they were so incredible.
This was our first time here and we will be back many many more times.

We had a great time at your lodge. Staff was friendly and the food was great. Especially loved the beautiful grounds. Was so nice to wake up, look out the window and see the trees reflection on the lake. Felt like paradise. The smores around the campfire was a nice touch, along with the guitar music. Especially loved the archery with Yogi. He was so helpful and made the experience fun for all of us, young and old. Keep him around! We will be back!

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the lake. Nice deck to sit on to view the sunset and sunrise.

We spent two nights at Montecito lodge beginning of may 2012 and have been completely satisfied with rooms, food and service. Not to forget: the great view on mountains and the perfect location to start hiking and exploring the Sequoia National Park.
We arrived after the time for dinner, but the folks had saved some food for us which was really a pleasure after our drive from San Francisco. Complimentary beverages and fruits/snacks can be accessed 24h a day. Breakfast and dinner are in a very relaxed fashion so you feel a bit like at home.
We can only recommend that site.
