They say they serve the same food as Grant's Grove but somehow it tastes better down in the Canyon. Maybe our 10 mile hike had something to do with it or it could have been the staff were pleasant and helpful. Have to buy your beer next door and borrow and opener before you go out on the patio.

This is as good as it can get a long way from the enclave of Grant Grove Village. Apart from a little lodge on the way here, this is the place for some decent food if you don’t happen to bring your own - prices and quality match the location!

Situated on the ground floor of the Lodge, it’s more like a small cafeteria where you order and pay at the counter. Most of what you can order is perhaps made from freezer items however the sandwiches we had plus a muffin was quite good.

The service is no nonsense and the wait can be a bit tedious however with only one staff member perhaps that’s why. Outdoors seating is just through a set of ‘blowing doors’ to keep the bugs out and a couple of washrooms are located nearby.

Next-door in the same area is a mini supermarket and gift store where you get some trail food for the local hikes or if you are camping. What you will enjoy here is eating in peaceful surroundings close to the wilderness area in Kings Canyon.

We stopped in last Sunday afternoon. The area is beautiful and the snack bar is clean. The bad part was the awful service at the counter from a very grumpy, mean, older woman. I was shocked at how rude and unpleasant she was for no reason at all. The food was mediocre, which consisted of a hamburger with no flavor at all (looked like one of those frozen Costco burgers), a bag of chips was included. I would have been fine with the unbelievably overpriced, so-so meal, but the treatment at the counter was really upsetting.

Food was well prepared and fresh. I had a Turkey Wrap and my wife had a slice of Pizza. Nothing fancy but fresh and filling.
