“Nice but could be a lot better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2009

This is yet another example of a hotel that is brought down by its housekeeping staff. The rooms are nice and comfortable. They are nicely furnished in a "woodsy" motiff. The hotel is relatively new. For those familiar with national park lodging- this is as good as it gets. Think a Best Western etc. in a national park. Unforunately, the housekeeping could have been better. While not dirty, it was lacking in certain areas. When we checked in, I am fairly certain the bathroom had not been mopped and the toilet was definitely not cleaned thoroughly. If the room had been spotlessly clean it would have been excellent.

“Clean and Basic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2009

We did like the lobby with the enormous rock fireplace, comfy sofas, chairs and tables for games (which appeared to be in good supply) or wi fi for your laptop. Too bad they don't have extended internet service in the rooms. As others have stated, there's not much to do there after dark. No cell service either. Great location but only food around was Grant Grill and it was pretty bad.

“Great stay inside the park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2009

Stayed here for 1 night in winter with family of 4 in a double room. Plenty of room in the room which is a good thing because there is inst much to do after dark, as is typical in a NP. Rooms have no TV so we entertained ourselves with card games, reading and wireless internet.

Room is more like a Holiday Inn - not bad for a NP lodge. Very comfortable and the setting cant be beat. Very quiet, pleasant stay. Ate dinner at the restaurant which was suprising good and not too expensive. Good thing as you dont have many options in Kings Canyon.

“Beautiful lodge in great national park setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2008

Very comforatable room in this "log cabin" style lodge right in the middle of the Kings Canyon National Park. We stayed here initially because we did not fancy the 1 hour plus drive out of the Park, but were very pleased we did. The rustic feel of the property is seen in the fireplace setting of the large lounge, and outside balconies overlooking the Sequoia trees. It was only a shame that we did not have longer to enjoy the peace of the location.
Value wise, this place is not cheap - but worth splashing out for. The nearby restaurant was popular and good value.

“Lovely accomodation in a great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2008

We are a family of four (2 adults, 11 and 9 year olds) and we stayed in here as part of a 3 week holiday in California. We really enjoyed our 3 day stay at the Lodge. It is right in the middle of the forest and is so quiet that we saw deer just outside the window. The check in is in the main building, a little way from the Lodge. The lodge itself has a large lobby to sit in with magazines and wireless internet access. The room was smaller than the usual hotel size rooms and as others have said, does not have a tv, air con or a fridge etc. This was not a problem for us as we were not in the room all that much and were here to see the scenery. Breakfast is in the main building and is waitress serviced. You can also get dinner here which was OK but the pizza parlour next door was pretty ordinary. If you were here for longer than a few days, the eating options may become a little tedious but for a few nights it was OK.
