I purchased the panoramic package which entails breakfast in a box so you can eat on the trail. I thought there was a specific trail they had that lead to a great view. When I was giving our food I asked and the person at the front desk just listed off hikes in the area. I walked to the gift shop to ask about a good hike for a view andshe was able to list easy trails with a great view. I just wish maybe they had a signature trail for this package. I spent a good chunk of my early morning trying to ffigure out which trails would be good for my girlfriend who is barely getting into the hiking thing.

First time at this lodge. Location is great. The John Muir Lodge was very nice and comfortable.
Great features. The room was wonderful. Each floor had a outdoor porch with nice seating.
There is a indoor seating area with a fireplace and seating. Stayed one night.

Room Tip: We stayed in the John Muir lodge, more hotel style room, there are other lesser priced cabins to ch...

The lodge is perfectly situated to get to various parts of both parks. Room was clean, spacious and comfortable, and adjacent to the balcony/porch. Easy walk down to the store/restaurant (although I would avoid the restaurant if you want to get fed in a timely manner - worst service we ever had in a park - the good news is that the Pinehurst lodge is only about 20 minutes drive and has great food and atmosphere).

Room Tip: second floor room near the balcony area (217/219) is great location.

Ideally placed to visit King's Canyon and Sequoia. Rooms comfortable, nice balcony at end of corridor to sit out in the evening. Didn't see any lifts so a bit of a struggle with suitcases up to first floor rooms. Good restaurant with reasonable food. Nice lounge area with free wifi.

Room Tip: Don't wait for a forest view room when you check in, the rooms over looking the car park have ju...

Very good location, but boy, they sure do charge for it. The Lodge itself is nicely donce, lovely sitting area with an open fire place. Rooms are average at best, exactly the same that you can get for less than half of this price elsewhere. But Iguess you really do need to pay for the priceless location.

Dinner was really good, huge portions and tasty as well. Strangely, here the prices are decent, nothing over the top This is important, because there is nowhere else to eat, so you are stuck with this whatever the food would be. Breakfast also super, set us back at least forty minutes, instead of a planned early start.

All in all even the high price was worth it.

Extremely nice to be in Kings Canyon/Sequoia, as we were close to the park!! Our room had two double-beds, keurig coffee maker, flat screen tv in a rustic setting. Room had a fridge but not a microwave, and bed was comfortable, nicely furnished with a number of comfy pillows. The lodge has a great room with Wi-Fi (Rooms do not have Wi-Fi!) fireplace and lots of seating. There is also plenty of wooden rockers and benches outside to view the wildlife and scenery. The restaurant next to the lodge has an awesome buffet for $12.50 a person. This buffet is a step up from the usual breakfast buffet with bacon, sausage, two kinds of scrambled eggs, hash browns, apple juice, hot coffee, grape juice, homemade muffins, local fruit (many kinds) and toast. We paid only $89 a night w/breakfast with a Groupon which is an incredible deal. Now, Negatives: The manger informed us (in a condescending voice) that the room rate is normally $202 a night with breakfast. We had an issue with the Manager refusing to honor the free breakfast; however, after we gave her documentation affirming the free breakfast, she relented. Housekeeping also did not vacuum each day or any day as far as I could see.

Room Tip: Our room was #117 and the second to the last room by the back viewing area.

This was a great location in the park. More central to both Kings Canyon byway and Sequoia sights. Room was more than basic..great comfortable bed, large flat screen TV, wifi, a small fridge and a coffee maker. Very relaxingin the evening on the porch. It is small and relatively quiet for a national park lodge. Only issue is noise from the plumbing.
