“Nice location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

This hotel was clean and quite. The best part is the location. It is minutes away from several nice hiking trails within the sequoia forest in the Grant Grove area. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The hotel is about to go under a major renovation. It is clean and quiet. It needs a facelift. I think considering the lodge in Cedar Grove, this hotel is overpriced. It does not have an air conditioner in the rooms.

If you come up from Three Rivers, you can get a hike in before getting to the lodge. The drive and trail behind the lodge is surprisingly nice, with a fantastic view at the end. The lodge looks a little like a nice nursing home in the hallways, but the rooms are quite nice. The lounge is cozy, and the porches are great.

When you are not in a hurry, live here and enjoy the sweet air and quietness. Reach the Panoramic Point for a sunrise panorama, and visit the giant trees. The meadows scattered around are also breath taking.

Room Tip: Just any room. Pick one on ground floor if you have heavy luggages.

Good location in the entrance to the park make a day in the park a much easier and enjoyable visit. Woke up early and refreshed for a day of sightseeing and hiking. Excellent lodging and amenities for a park.

Room Tip: reserve early to get a room

Absolutely loved our stay at the John Muir Lodge. It is conveniently located centrally to both Kings Canyon and the Giant Sequoia parks. It was nice to have a restaurant close enough to walk to and I really appreciated the vegan options on their menu. The room was pleasant and spacious enough and I had no complaints about anything. We saw a mule deer mother and two fawns out the window in the morning, it was just a lovely setting. The bed was a bit hard for my tastes, but hardly an issue to me.

Room Tip: Wifi is available only in the lobby, so if that is important to you, get a room closer to the lobby.

The Lodge is centrally located between Kings & Sequoia making a great place to be based. The setting is in a wooded area, with a great "back to nature" feel.
Whilst the rooms are basic, they are clean, comfortable and just what's needed after a day's exercise !
