This grove of the giant Sequoias is just off the Highway 180 on the way to the entrance of Kings Canyon National Park and is part of that park. The grove has a large parking lot and the trail through the grove is short and easily walked. The jewel of this grove is the General Grant Tree, which is the third largest Sequoia in the world, as measured by the diameter of the base (33'). This grove is right up there with the Giant Forest of nearby Sequoia National Park, and in some ways more impressive due to the concentration of these giant trees in one relatively small location. If you're at the latter park, this is an easy 45 minute side trip from the Wuksachi Lodge (reviewed by me elsewhere on Trip Advisor). If your main focus is Kings Canyon, there's no excuse for not stopping here.
