“The largest tree in the world”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

Take the shuttle from the Giant museum center. This is a very easy walk and worth your time to see. We spent an jour just enjoying the view and the area.

“Lots of visitors”

Lots of visitors to most famous tree. Enjoyed seeing the tree, but overall, park was amazing, and I would love to visit again.

“Short touristy trail but worth it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

This is not really a trail, it is more a roundabout - all focussed around the big General Grant tree - definitely worth it to get a good feel of the enormity of the sequoia trees - many interesting facts to learn, and also some fallen trees to explore. All in all great to do with kids, but I would recommend to then do a proper trail in the park - more peace and quiet and more sequoias, but then without the crowds.

“If you make just one stop to get the whole sequoia experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

If you want a couple hour stop to get an entire giant sequoia experience, then take in the General Grant Tree trail at Kings Canyon. You get 250 foot tall trees, one of the signature monoliths in General Grant, a large grove of dozens (hundreds?) of sequoias. The trail was flat, the free ranger-guided tour was informative, and the trees were awesome.

We arrived early, before crowds got heavy. The ranger-led tour times are listed at the informational bldg. We didn't stay with the ranger for the entire trail, but what we did stay for was interesting.

An added bonus is that the General Grant Tree trail is just past the entrance if you come in Hwy 180 from Fresno. After having risen 6000 feet in elevation along the side of the mountains to get here from the central valley, you'll be glad for the flat walk.

“Very easy scenic hike”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

Everyone in my family enjoyed this easy path around the sequoias. We even saw a bear! There is a guide for the hike available at the start for a small fee. It was worth it.
