“Thanks for the tip.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2010

I read the review below and it convinced me to come here and I am really glad I did. What a lovely spot. It is not far from the entrance to the park, so it is easy to get to and convenient if you are tired of driving. I came Sunday night and there were already some pretty noisy people there, but they packed up and moved on. No bears the night I was there, but the review above got me so scared I moved half of the things in my car into the bear box, which, thankfully, is quite roomy.

“Fantastic tent only location by river, watch out for the bears!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2010

This is a first come first served campground for tents only. It is $18 per night. There are flush toilets and utility sinks. Showers are at Lodgepole visitor centre and cost $3 per shower. The camp is quite a long way from the Giant Tree area, made longer if there are road works going on, it's a pretty drive though. The pitches are green and quite spacious and very close to the fast running river. This meant that any music/talking at night was drowned out by the sound of water - so you get a good night's sleep. WARNING - you MUST put everything with an odour in the bear box,(including windex, chewing gum wrappers etc) NOT in your car as there were 4 car break ins by bears over the weekend we were there - and those bears are very adept at breaking windows and causing a lot of damage!
Check out the local hike out the back of the camp, it goes to a wonderful little waterfall where there is a place to safely paddle!
