We arrived a day before Labor Day weekend to avoid the crowds and already there were only a few campsites left. We moved into #53 which was a little more private than most. That same night around 2:00 am some people moved in next to us and made a lot of noise in the process. We were not amused, but overall the camping experience was very enjoyable.
The bathrooms were not close to us but we managed. Water was available nearby so that was a huge plus, as we refilled our gallon bottle several times.
We were all (3 of us), very happy to be there and would gladly return to Azalea. We saw some other campgrounds like Lodgepole and they seemed way overcrowded by comparison. Almost like people were camping next to each other on a dirt parking lot.
We would definitely recommend Azalea campground to anyone wishing to get away from all the noise and traffic. It's also close to the entrance to Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Park so it is an easy drive to anywhere you may want to go.
