“You've got to earn that view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

It is the same little narrow path back and forth and rather crowded. Yet, it is worth the wait for the shuttle and a little effort to reach the top. With altitude, this short way up can be strenuous for some. Take your time, enjoy the view.

“Worth every calorie you will expend!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

Steep stairs carved into a giant granite boulder formation leads to spectacular vistas of the Southern Sierras. The view to the west was clouded by haze or smog. You will not regret huffing and puffing for 8-10 minutes, and there are handrails if you need them. These were the best images of my camping trip in SNP Must Go.

“Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013 via mobile

This is a step climb up many stairs but well worth it! I'm afraid of heights but I managed to hug the inside wall and not look down as I went up. There were a few places that my legs were a bit shaky but I'm glad I made it all the way to the top! The sunset up here was amazing and the views were fantastic. You can see really far into the valley, the winding road you drove up to get there and all the trees below. The rocks on the other mountains are very visible too. The top has a railing all the way around so you feel pretty safe.

“Up, up, up the stairs you go .. and then”

You get a majestic view of the Sierra Nevadas. It's not a very long trek up but it does give you a work out. The view is awesome and the granite rock you walk up is huge.

“Even if you're afraid of heights, hike it anyway!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

It's a steep 306 steps up the rock with narrow passes, but is adequately maintained and you feel safe enough. We took children ages 5-15 and they all did it just fine. Not much stopping if its crowded as people want to get to the top. There is a midway section you can stop if you're feeling scared or nervous. It is really an incredible view at the top. You can see the whole valley below and realize how small you are in comparison to our big world!
