“Awe-inspiring”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

The Sequoia National Forest in amazing. Once you enter the park, you have to drive for about 30 minutes up a very windy, narrow mountain road. But it is totally worth it. At the top of the mountain are massive trees that make you feel tiny in comparison. There are several hiking trails, a museum/gift shop, and informational plaques all over. There are plenty of photo opportunities.

I would recommend using the bathroom facilities once you enter the park before making the drive to the top and use the bathroom again for the car ride back down, especially if you have small kids!

“Giant Forest, Kings Canyon NP”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Kings Canyon National Park - campgrounds, visitor center, hiking trails, and huge Giant Sequoia trees. Lovely in summer and fall, XC ski in winter when the road is open.

“Winter Wonderland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

Loved the quiet solitude amongst the giants...

Did not appreciate the stubborn folks who insisted upon walking many miles of snow-covered "trails" without snowshoes or skis. They made annoying-to-dangerous holes in the trails for others. Please bring or rent snowshoes and everyone will have a more enjoyable time!

Once you are past a mile from a trailhead, you'll only see a handful of people even on the holiday weekends! Quite a treat compared to the crush of humans during peak summer. The trees are ever so majestic in the snow!

But if you only have time to go in the summer - go anyway! Worth visiting at least once in a lifetime.

“Giants Forrest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

Wasn't sure if I should go to Yosemite National Park or Sequoia. Decided to see big trees, oh yeah. From the stories I heard about Yosemite it must be very nice as well, but man... those big ancient trees are amazingly big bigger biggest. Stayed 2 nights at Wuksachi Lodge, which too is very nice.. The 2nd day I hicked up to the Big Sherman and the other huge trees around it. I was there in Autumn resulting in a breathtaking color full scenery. Lot of hiking trails and nice spots to visit. If you have the opportunity, go there. You won't regret it.
