Just stayed at one of the rustic historic bath cabins. It was clean spacious but simple. The whole General Grant lodge complex needs significant renovation and updating of landscaping and planning. The only dining facility available to non-campers was the dining room at the registration/souvanir store. This dining room serves the cabins, the John Muir Lodge, and general area of the Grant Grove. Service was terrible and the whole place seem totally disorganized for table service facility. I would only stay in this area of the park for only one or two nights maximum.
Don't stay down at the Cedar Grove Lodge unless you are actually planning to do some day hiking activities; the hotel facility down there is very minimal.

OK, Well first of all I am not a sissy girl. These cabins are old but that didn't bother me, dirty carpet shabby drapes, didn't bother me, but, the dead mouse and the huge blacks ants trying to carry it away did! I walked to the reservation desk and explained the problem and asked to have the carpets swept (don't look under your bed) YIKES! Following that things were great.
Beds are pretty comfy. Cabins are close to resturant and grocery so the are very convenient. This is one of two places to eat in the park. Breakfast is either oatmeal or buffet $9.95 PER. Dinner and lunch have a menu. Food was ok....pizza was good.
The park itself was beautiful, quiet and very Zen like. Giant Grove forest is a must. The drive to sunset point was particularly nice. Try to catch a sunrise there. Bears I guess are around we didn't see any. Zumwalt meadow early is the place to see bears.
I enjoyed are stay but would take ant traps the next time. Please do not consume food in your cabins! Leave no wrappers in the trash can in the room! You will have all sorts of small creatures trying to get in. I am not kidding about this.

We have been to Sequoia a few times before. This time we met some other family members at Grant Grove. They got a cabin without a bath that was much nicer than our duplex cabin with a bath. The only drawback was the abundance of mice in our cabin. Looking back, we laugh at chasing them around in the middle of the night. We won't forget the friendly racoon under our porch.
Overall, we loved the experience. The grandchildren had a blast hiking and playing. The huge pinecones right outside our cabin amazed them. The young people working in the little pizzaria near the cabins were very nice. Great pizza!!
We will sure go back again, even though the prices are a little high for the cabins. For California it was wonderfully underpopulated for a Sunday through Wednesday trip.

We booked to stay in the only single bath cabin, known as the "honeymoon cabin" for 3 nights. The write up on the property website suggested the cabin is so popular it often gets booked up a year in advance. We were really looking forward to our own cosy cabin and were more than prepared for it to be on the rustic end of the scale - although given we were paying about $140 a night at a relatively quiet time of the year we were expecting a better standard than the cabin we had stayed in at Yosemite.

So we arrived for the front desk staff (very helpful) to tell us how lucky we were to have that cabin, how lovely it was and how cosy it would be. We collected our keys and went to explore. The temperature was about 37F (in early May) and we were looking forward to a nice heated cabin.

We were therefore disappointed to arrive and find the heating had broken (pilot light had gone out - a common problem apparently!) and although the cabin was clean it was a little tired and worn. The heater looked very old, dusty and I suspect was not very reliable. There was a portable electric oil filled radiator which we turned on briefly but it didn't smell particularly nice. The front door didn't fit the frame properly and when closed we could see outside and feel the cold air coming in. The bathroom felt very cold and damp (we couldn't see a heater in there).

Had it not been so cold we might have stayed in the cabin but we were not prepared to spend a night in below freezing temperatures, with the possibility that the heating might not work. And were we not paying so much when there was a cheaper alternative next door.....we moved to the neighbouring John Muir Lodge. Not quite so rustic and intimate but warm and for 2 of our 3 nights $30 a night cheaper than the cabin!
