“Perfect place to stay ....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

Location is the biggest plus for this place. This is centrally located. So, you can easily drive both sides of Kings Canyon and Sequoia (with the exception of mineral king) if you stay here. Cabins were really old, but kept in good condition. Restaurant was amazing. Dinner was great ! They have breakfast buffet with wide choice of collections. There is also a convenience store where you can grab deli sandwiches for lunch.

what a wonderful way to enjoy the outdoors, hike, cook on a wood burning stove, and then sleep in a cozy cabin. Bringing young children to the wilderness for the first time is a great way to enjoy it comfortably.

Room Tip: these are cabins in the woods.

So glad to hear you had a great visit!!

You are right on the money - this is a great way for families to get out and enjoy our National
Parks.

You can't beat making Smore's over the wood stove outside while watching all the wildlife
in the Meadow.

Thank you for being our guests and for sharing your kind words on Trip Advisor.

Please come say hello on your return visit to the Park.

Happy trails -

If you're looking to rough it a bit but prefer a cozy bed to a tent this is the way to go. Each cabin has a great patio area with picnic table and a stove to cook on or keep warm on the cooler nights. Public showers/bathrooms are a short walk away (bring quarters - $1/3min of shower time). Towels are provided and stocked in your cabin.

Very close to a number of trails for those who want to hike. Also within walking distance of the store, post office, restaurant and National Park visitors center.

The only issue I had was that the heating unit in the cabin does not work very well. While not a huge issue for me, I can see it being a problem for someone that does not deal well with cold temps. There are extra blankets stocked in the closet if needed.

Overall I had a great time at the Grant Grove cabins and look forward to returning.

Wife and I would do this again in a heart beat. Great Outdoor Experience while giving a great level of enjoyment and relaxation. The community showers are not bad they provide a changing area next to the shower and they cost $1 and have a time limit but can put another $1 in for some for time. There was only 4 showers on the Men's side so if the camp is busy it might be hard finding one open. The lodge had a nice lobby you could go to and relax and be able to spend it with a group of people if you wanted to.

Room Tip: The cabins with a hill slop that runs into the front porch allows water to come in so sitting on the...

Staying in the Grant Grove cabins is a trip back in time. They are old, not as fancy as the lodges but that's what makes them great. We loved staying in Giant Forest before the cabins there were removed, this experience is very similar.

Greetings from the Canyon -

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Trip Advisor.
It is a great place to "Base Camp" and explore both parks.

Hope to have you as our guests again when your travels bring you

Clean comfy cabins with heat and electricity. Some with bathrooms, others - very economically priced - with communal bathrooms. Located near the crossroads of the two main highways traversing Sequoia and King's Canyon parks, puts you everything you want to see within easy reach. You can cook at your cabin (there's a wood stove outside) or eat in the restaurant, and a well stocked food store is available too. A great base for exploring the area, which is exquisitely beautiful!

Room Tip: If bathrooms are a big deal to you, spend the extra money and get a cabin with a private bath. If no...

My wife and I stayed in one of their cabins with a bathroom. Rustic, not bad, just rustic. The cabins are OLD, and the wall heater was cranky to operate -- I only (possibly) figured it out in the morning before we left. The bathroom worked just fine, but it was a slight uphill trudge to get there as the floors are a bit slanted. The cabins are not widely spaced, and the ones with bathrooms are actually duplexes, but I was very surprised at how quiet the night was. Sitting out on the front porch in the evening was entertaining, with the squirrels and chipmunks running around everywhere including on the deck. But the best thing about these cabins is their location - technically not in the park, but nigh onto its border. It's a park-like setting anyway. Dining is a short stroll away in the main office building.

Room Tip: A room with an indoor bathroom was a good choice for us.
