“Location is very good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

My wife and I stayed in one of their cabins with a bathroom. Rustic, not bad, just rustic. The cabins are OLD, and the wall heater was cranky to operate -- I only (possibly) figured it out in the morning before we left. The bathroom worked just fine, but it was a slight uphill trudge to get there as the floors are a bit slanted. The cabins are not widely spaced, and the ones with bathrooms are actually duplexes, but I was very surprised at how quiet the night was. Sitting out on the front porch in the evening was entertaining, with the squirrels and chipmunks running around everywhere including on the deck. But the best thing about these cabins is their location - technically not in the park, but nigh onto its border. It's a park-like setting anyway. Dining is a short stroll away in the main office building.

Room Tip: A room with an indoor bathroom was a good choice for us.

We stayed in a duplex cabin with a private bath. Considering that it is a cabin in a dusty area, there was some in the room and whoever cleans surely could have put a little a little more effort at dusting, and also cleaning the bathroom. We didn’t feel any springs in the bed mattress, but I believe the one we had is due for replacement; it sagged in the middle. Being a duplex, we could hear the neighbors next door, but overall it was quiet and we did get 3 nights of good sleep. The area around the cabins, were well kept. It was more comfortable than tent camping, not quite as clean as a lodge room, but it was an enjoyable stay. I liked the fact that we could open our door to the great outdoors. There were numerous cabins around us, but we still enjoyed the scenery; plenty of beautiful trees. The John Muir Lodge, visitor center, restaurant, store, etc., was within walking distance. If you have time, take a day and drive to Cedar Grove; you’ll be glad you did! Overall, our cabin was cozy; we would stay here again.

The cabins provided a fantastic 'base of operations' for my daughter and me. We could do our gift shopping, have a meal prepared for us, visit the ranger station and, most importantly, head out and around the park. The staff were very friendly. The restaurant wasn't anything to write home about, but it served our needs. The cabin's beds were comfortable and the area was quiet. My only 'complaint' was that the showers had pretty limited operating hours - 12P to 3P - making washing up a bit of a challenge. The bathrooms, however, were very clean and close by.

These cabins were super cute and very comfortable. The surrounding area is beautiful and you are really in nature. The cabins have comfy beds with clean bedding. They are cozy little cabins, but we enjoyed being together in them. Know that there are no refrigerators so you will have to house your food in an ice chest. But there is a little table outside and a small woodstove that you can definitely cook a hot dog on or heat up water for hot cocoa, which we did. The bathrooms are fairly central to all of the cabins and are clean and well-stocked. The showers were good, too (the 3 minutes for $1 seemed longer than 3 minutes). We really enjoyed staying here and you must drive the 45 minutes to the Giant Forest area to see all of the stuff that Sequoia is famous for.

Show the roots of the trees all the respect they deserve for enduring man kind. Stay on the peoples side of the redwood rails and the trees will have a much better chance of surviving another 2000 years. Some of the forest is uninhabitable by man. Other creatures like the bear live there. Respect the whole ecosystem, take pictures, leave footprints. I had a blast, Gene

Very good stay at economy prices. The only issue for some could be shared bath and rest room. Good clean cabins.. gives you experience of kind of staying in wild. overall a fun experience. A walk at night is must when staying in this area.

We love visiting here. Its back to nature, love the Giant Sequoias and all that nature provides. The cabins are warm and snug, and getting to different areas of the park was easy. You cannot beat the view of a sky full of stars at night.
