Nice gift shop, great exhibits, good movie, all for free!. Really shows you a lot about Kings Canyon National Park. The Rangers are well informed, warm and helpful. Get a map of the close-by campgrounds for free.
The park service pulled a lot of volunteers in for the Labor day weekend. And surprisingly, they were well trained and we didn't have to wait long for the answers we needed. Lines even for the mens room but it was a busy weekend.
There was a bear near the center so be educated in how to deal with them before you travel.

Great place to learn all about the park and what it has to offer - see a bit of history and then take off hiking!
The good people that you meet in these visior center are a welcome stop.
