“Sprague Lake in RNNP”

Sprague Lake early in the morning acts like a mirror with the mountains in the background. The trailhead is approx. 9 miles from the Beaver Meadows Entrance on the east side of RMNP and is easily reached via Bear Lake Road. The 1 mile loop around Sprague Lake is an easy hike and was a highlight of our trip.

Thousands of people visit Rocky Mountain National Park each year. Most travel the Trail Ridge Road. Fewer take the time or have the sense of adventure to try the old Fall River Road to the top. The road is a gravel one-way route to the top with many switchbacks and some of the most spectacular scenery around. Its possible to get much closer to the beauty taking this route over the paved road. Is a little bumpy and a lot slower but well worth it. Be sure to keep your windows down to catch the smell of the pine. I've attached a few pictures from along the way.

“What a Delightful Place!!!”

My husband and I went to Colorado for a vacation and our first stop was Rocky Mountain National Park. What a great way to spend your first few days in Colorado. The scenery was just breathtaking. Make sure you take plenty of film for your camera because you will be taking alot of pictures here. The elk were wonderful to watch and to photo. Many beautiful pictures to take on top of the continental divide and at the visitors center. The air is thin at the visitors center so take it easy but enjoy your visit. The visitor center staff are great to talk to and filled with much information. Plan on spending a whole day on this adventure. The pass you get at the gate is good for one week so that you can go back if you don't get completely around the park.

6/23-6/25?- Rocky Mountain National Park- For all nature lovers! Especially liked SHEEP LAKE! We saw bighorn sheep, coyote, elk, deer... (many times) ---go in through Estes Park. We also liked the Horseshoe Park -- Alluvial Fan- this was facinating. In 1982 a dam broke and released 29 million gallons of water. Trees and car-sized boulders were swept down on the valley floor. We had 2 1/2 days and couldn't possibly even see half of this wonderful place. Will probably return in the future!!

We took a road trip across the country to visit the Rocky Mountains.
Everything was beautiful and the crowds were not bad once we passed Labor Day. We spent a few days in the Medicine Bow Mtns. in southern Wyoming as well. Had beautiful cool weather.
