We walked Lily Lake Trail, inner loop and outer loop. The loop that goes up on the ridge above the lake was very enjoyable. We saw so many birds we had never seen before...many hummingbirds, a beautiful western tanager, various types of duck, various types of woodpeckers and warblers galore. Lily Lake has a particular type of trout that was thought to be extinct in the 30s. The greenback cutthroat trout is thriving in this little lake. You can see them in the crystal clear water along the shore. Catch and release fishing is allowed in this lake along a portion of the shore. Get there early in the morning for ample parking, otherwise there are no spots in the small parking lot. We returned to Lily Lake a few times while we were in the area.
