“Stay far away!”

Estes Park Campground

My girlfriend and I had planned on staying at Estes Park Campground two nights but only stayed for one. Campsites were packed together and offered little privacy. Several campers had dogs, which barked during the night. . We decided to leave before our final night due to lack of privacy and excessive noise. The fire ring at our campsite was closer to an occupied campsite than it was ours. Because we wanted some privacy, we used the fire ring at an unused nearby campsite and were chastised by the owner. Also, the campground charged us for an extra night and claimed someone had called on our behalf and asked for an extra night. Because we were tired from a day of driving, we didn't notice Estes Park Campground's error until a few days later. The owner refused to issue a refund and acted very unprofessionally. We will be reporting this campground to the Better Business Bureau. Stay far away!

We spent two nights at this campground at the end of May. We picked this location because it had more room between RV sites than other we had researched and it had water and electrical hookups. It was quiet and the scenery is spectacular. The weather was ideal, but I can see how it would get messy if it were rainy. The hosts were nice and efficient, the wi-fi worked from out campsite, although the signal wasn't very strong. Who goes camping to surf the internet and check email though? If you have an RV, this is a nice place that isn't like a parking lot RV park. If you tent camp, they have picnic tables, fire pits, running water, flush toilets, and showers onsite. We will stay here again, it's an ideal spot for camping nearby touristy locations.

I found the management to be friendly and polite, but my husband and I really disliked this campground. Most of the sites are crammed together on a downward slope, making you feel right on top of the other campers. It rained while we were there, and this slope made the wetness level (i.e. water running through the camp sites) worse, especially since we were in a tent.

This was the noisiest campground we've stayed at in a long time. I know that, with lots of kids around (and there were quite a few), you have to expect some noise, but with the space as cramped as it was, the noise seemed much worse. (For some reason, there seemed to be an awful lot of parents constantly yelling at their kids - not the fault of the campground, I know, but this is the first campground where I've really noticed something like that!) The bathrooms were small and not very well kept up - there were only three shower stalls in the one closest to us (and I believe there are only two bathhouses in the campground total), and one stall was out of order all three nights we were there.

In all, this was just an average stay - the next time we stay in Estes Park, we will definitely try out some other campgrounds.

“Terrible experience”

Estes Park Campground

Our family has been tent camping all over the United States for about 10 years (well, one of us has been doing it for more than 30!) This weekend, we had the No. 1 worst experience camping at Estes Park Campground. It started with the owner giving away our reservation, and putting us in an undesirable, sloped spot that was right on top of many other spots. The entire campground is sites just crammed in on top of each other; I'd as soon camp out at a Wal-Mart parking lot. This is why we tried to reserve to two joining spots that were more remote. The owner took our reservation and our money, but gave our spots away. When we dared to complain (as the POINT of reservations is to take and HOLD the reservations; not just take them :) the owner threatened us, saying that he was going to evict us from the campground (for complaining) and keep our $80 deposit. When told that was stealing, he just smirked. It was awful. But as our group included a little children and a pregnant woman, we just switched gears and tried to "play nice" so as not to wind up back on the road for 4-5 hours. The positive things I can say about this campground is that it's in Estes Park, which is lovely, and that the weather on this particular weekend was gorgeous. Camp anywhere but here, please. Anywhere.

my husband and I went for a week last year and we have already planned for the next season. We had such a great time. Great service amazing views and a family friendly environment. We literally left our campsite, walked across the road and walked into the Rockies! Don't miss out on this exciting view and vacation.
