My husband and I drove down the 9-mile road to Bear Lake. The road is under massive construction, so there were stretches of gravel and flagmen; however, we were never stopped. The temperature in the parking lot was 55 degrees, so we pulled on hats and gloves and polarfleece jackets. From the sidewalk to Bear Lake was only 200 feet, but it was completely snow-covered, and icy because of the very warm weather for the previous week. There was no path or trail, but the lake was visible from the sidewalk.
From there to the lake, the temperature must have dropped 20 degrees, and the winds around the ice-covered lake must have approached 50 miles per hour! The lake had a bluish appearance, and was absolutely beautiful! But because of the extreme winds, it was impossible to stay there very long. Well worth a trip!
