“Sprague Lake in winter”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

The lake hike was a half mile long and beautiful. The trail was ice-packed and snowy in places but then it is January! The views on the lake and on the drive to the lake were gorgeous. Unfortunately the weather hasn't cooperated and given the Rockies the snow they desperately need. It was windy (again, to be expected) but because you're walking through a wooded area it's just occasional.

“Nice short hike around pretty lake”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

We walked around the lake today. It has a nice, accessible path. It is not paved however but a dirt/gravel path. Wheelchairs might have some trouble by themselves, without someone to give an occasional push. (just conjecture on my part).

Today there were just a few feet where there was snow on the path. The lake was perhaps half covered with ice. The road up is under construction, with dirt/gravel for perhaps a mile. There is a sign that says 'steep winding road', but that must be beyond the lake, because while there is some winding, there are no steep parts.

It is about 9,000 ft up, so don't try to do over exert yourself. It is a short trail, perfect for those with minor walking difficulties like my wife who has a bad knee.

“one of my favorite lakes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

sprague lake is a great place of beauty and for reflection. it is an easy walk (0.5m) around the lake. it is a handicap assessable walk. have seen this lake in all 4 seasons & i don't have a favorite! every season is wonderful. there has been many trees removed over the past year. this is sad, but they are trying to rid the area of the pine beetle.

“Local on Sprague Lake”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

An easy little hike--paved--wheelchair accessible. If you are not much of a hiker but want to see some BEAUTIFUL scenery and have a nice picnic, try this spot. In peak summer season, I like to go out in early morning or late afternoon for a quick bit of exercise when there aren't tons of people around.

“Favorite Place”

Closed by Road Construction from 9 AM to 4 PM. Bus will take you to Bear Lake but you would have to walk back 1 mile. Disappointing.
