“Mid June Camping Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

We just returned from a spur of the moment stay at the Kalaloch campground. We've stayed at the Kalaloch cabins many times, but always wanted to try the campground. The weather cooperated and our day on the beach was sunny and warm. All the campground loops appeared to be open with D-F seeming to be more full. We have a 24' trailer, so found a great spot in the A loop right across the road from the cliff. The sound of the waves crashing down below drowned out all other noises! :-) Although, it was very quiet in general. Reservations start this week, so I expect it will be a busy summer.
Just two minor "complaints" or things to be aware of. Payment is via envelopes found near each loop by the restrooms. You will need a pen (walked over and had to go back for one - dah!) And if you stay for more than one night, there isn't a space for that - they expect you to go back and fill out a new coupon each day and have the right cash. I only had the total for 2 nights, so put that in with a note it was for 2 nights. I noticed others did the same. Also, there was barely enough room for our trailer and SUV, but there was a small parking lot across from us where others had parked. We thought, great! We can leave the car there. But no, a small sign says, "Day Use Only." That didn't mean the picnic table, that meant you couldn't park there at night, but that isn't made clear! Saw somebody get a ticket who parked their truck overnight, so we squeezed our SUV in to our space. Supposedly you can park in the large lot near the entrance, but that also says "Day Use." ???
All in all, it is a very well kept campground with lots to see and do nearby: Kalaloch Lodge (with restaurant), several beaches to explore, Quinault Lake and Lodge down the road, etc. We'll be going back ASAP!

Fond memories of twenty years ago and Kalaloch did not disappoint! Fairly priced in comparison with a great many campgrounds along the coast and just plain beautiful! Stunning sunsets and great views of Destruction Island. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: The beachfront sites are obviously first pick, so come early! (and prepare for a little bit of wind...

A must. It's unexplainable the beauty of the beach. The camp ground was not packed so it was nice, the camp sites are very clean and each have a picnic table a fire pit and room for two cars or others have room for an rv. They have bathrooms that are pretty clean. Over all great experience, but if you go you must watch the sunset fade into the ocean it makes you stop and appreciate life

Camped in the off season but had beautiful weather. The beaches were amazing and camping to the sound of waves was incredible. Finding cash in the area can be a little difficult, so come prepared (you the gas station in Queets can give cash back.)

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013 via mobile

Stayed during winter Feb 2013. Weather was overcast for most of the day with short breaks of actual sunshine. Light to strong winds as you would expect being at the beach. Great beach hiking; cliffs, forest, and small headlands for exploring although beware at high tide due to debris. Small pools of water developed when it rained so tent camping on the ground would have been uncomfortable. Some sites located on the cliff for lovely beach views, although its only a very short walk to the beach if at an inland site. All sites priced the same and cheap ($14). Bathrooms were clean but no showers. Most sites had good tree cover to deflect wind and rain. Must walk down path to get to beach which did not look wheelchair accessible. This is one of the better campgrounds in the area. Open year-round.

We have camped at Kalaloch for over 50 years and have always enjoyed it. Of course it is much better to put on our backpacks and head out to the wilderness but if you need to stay in a campground then this is a good one. The location is great for exploring the coast and interior parts of Olympic National Park. The camp is clean and the rangers are nice and helpful. The beach is terrific and it is nice to have a nearby store and restaurant. Try to get a camp spot near the beach and away from the highway. It can be noisy at night.

Pretty campground right by the ocean. It was bit chilly and damp but well worth it. Even though the campground was full, our campsite felt secluded. We attended a ranger led talk in the evening about being a beach medic and a tidal walk the following morning. The programs are worth checking out. Both rangers were very knowledgable.
