Enjoyed our stay in the Sol Duc cabins. Did not experience any of the negatives found in some of the other reviews. We stayed for two nights in the middle of June so it was really before the tourist season begins and the campgrounds were nearly empty. Our room was very comfortable, clean and well maintained. The queen beds were of average comfort. Liked having the picnic table outside for snacks and meals as it probable keeps the inside of the cabins much cleaner. The cabins facing the river have the most privacy and probably less noise from the adjoining cabins. Though all the cabins were occupied it was very quiet at night. Again, school was still in session so probably not as many families as found later in the summer. The pools weren't crowded and we found them much cleaner than other reviews had talked about and they were checked both days while were there. Great to soak and look at the surrounding scenery. We had two complimentary breakfasts and they were excellent with eggs, bacon and french toast included. We also ate two dinners at the lodge and found the prepartion and quality of food very good. The chef came out both nights to visit with dinners to get feed back on their meals. The Sol Duc Falls hike is a must with beautiful scenery and views.
On the negative side, we had trouble with check out and it took over half an hour to get our bill straightened out. (same thing at Lake Quinault) We had reserved a package of three Olympic Resorts with extra days added on and the computer was unable to handle the two bookings. After much time and effort everything eventually got straightened out. At the time it was rather frustrating, especially after going through the same thing at Lake Quinault.

I really enjoyed my stay at Sol Duc. If you want to stay in the beautiful rain forests of the pacific Northwest and don't want to camp, this is a lovely alternative. The dinner at the restaurant was excellent (the free breakfast was edible, not great). If you like hot springs, and hiking and don't want to camp, this is the place to go. I would definitely return.

I'm continually amazed that people flock to National Park lodgings and expect the luxury. My family and I just got back from a great weekend away from phones and TV. Our cabin was clean and quiet. We went out and explored the rain forrest, the falls and did some wonderful day hiking. If your worried about the cost of food at the resort, bring a cooler and some snacks. Wonderful photo ops and day hikes abound in the Olympic State Park. We will definately return.

The hot springs attraction consists of three large hot tubs (plus a regular heated - not hot - swimming pool) full of sulfur and little flakes which are actually friendly bacterial colonies (a sign assures you "It's not skin!"). They're all right next to each other in a paved, fenced-in area adjoining the main building. It's no different from going to a decent heated outdoor swimming pool with a hot tub, only with a rotten-egg smell thrown in.

The one good thing about Sol Duc Hot Springs is the location, in the middle of Olympic National Park, close to some beautiful waterfalls, forests, and mountains that are well worth hiking through. Go see all that, but don't waste your money at Sol Duc Resort. Stay in a campground -- there's one 1/2 mile down the road.

If you want a nice clean civilized hot tub, just go someplace in town that has a hot tub. It'll be cheaper, and it won't stink. If you want the rugged, natural hot springs experience, go to Olympic Hot Springs. It's the real thing, and it's free.

Really expensive cabins with no kitchens, $135 a night plus taxes! Then you had to buy food from the expensive food service vendor. The cabins with a kitchen go for $165 a night! It is one those cases where they got you and they are going to over charge you as much as they can. You can camp at the National Park campground for $12. Another beef is the pools did not open until 9am but the staff was using them at 7:30 am when I walked by, what's up that? How much does it cost to hire a life guard for an extra hour or two? I got the cheapskate vibe from this place.
