“Easy to walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

We liked looking at the moonscape-like environment - an easy walk on a paved trail. One could park at one end and have someone pick you up at the other parking lot but it's not a bad walk both ways.

“Great overlook to crater”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

We did not do much research before coming to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. This was the first trail we took. Although the trail itself was a little disappointing (i.e. not challenging) the overlook of the crater at the end was kind of incredible, especially since we saw all the hikers walking across the solidified grounds.

“Eerie, but interesting.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

Really gives you a picture of how natural devastation can be. Amazing views, so desolate, yet has an eerie sense of beauty. You will come away from Devastation Trail with an understanding of the forces of nature and how it affects the future. Must see in HVNP.

“devastation is the word for it.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

such a huge flat area is such a sight on such a massive scale, from above the visitors are hardly noticeable, so interesting to see.
