“Great hike - not so easy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2014

This hike was by far my favorite of our entire trip! We would not consider this an easy hike, as indicated on the trail placard. Took about an hour, I think. While the homestead was closed for repairs, we saw the old barn, hiked up to the old mill - which was amazing - and let the kids splash in the river a bit. This has big boulders to crawl over and is steep in parts - again, not what I would call easy. But it was amazing!! Definitely get the trail guide to read along with the trail markers. Couldn't imagine life back then, living on a mountain side, and it's something we will talk about with our kids for a long time! HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

“Remembering the recent past”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

The short hike to the property is easy enough for all. The home place is a reminder of what life use to be like. Loved the barn and hike around the property was fun. Did not like seeing all the grafitti written on everything. I can not understand why people want to destroy our national treasures.

“Love the history!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2014

Great place to stop for an hour to hike and view the farm. We loved the easy hike, but don't let it fool you it still has hills, creeks, and rocks to jump over. Pack a lunch and make it a nice afternoon outdoors. The weather is perfect.

“Cool to see how families lived in the past”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2014

The surrounding area and drive here is amazing! Great stop offs to hike and explore. Tons of fresh water streams to dip your feet in. The house was surprisingly small and mt little ones were surprised how simple we used to live on farms. Historic place to visit

“Site was closed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2014 via mobile

We were really looking forward to visiting this cabin and surrounding area, but the attraction/parking lot were all closed the day we visited with no explanation. Very disappointing. Also thought it was somewhat hard to find; made us even more disappointed to find it closed once we finally did locate it.
