The Abrams Falls Trail is rated as a medium difficulty - likely because of the steep ups and downs over a sometimes unstable path (because of rocks/tree roots). The views from the hike are magnificent - you cross over the top of two mountains, so you can see down to the river below and it is breathtaking. There are wood log footbridges to cross as well - I remember 3 of them - but you are not too high off the ground - just over some water. A walking stick helps quite a bit to keep steady for anyone with footing issues. You can walk right up to the falls and there is a tranquil area just below the falls where you can cool off your feet/fish/swim/play/relax.
