“Taking advantage of an opportunity”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2012

Pick up a leaflet (50c) and walk this short self guided trail, where you will see several original buildings such as an extended cabin, general store, storage sheds and smokehouse. Learn about how pioneers survived in such harsh climates.

There is also a replica of the ferry constructed by William Menor and this is sometimes demonstrated by the Park Rangers.

“Well worth the time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012

Nice little side stop from the main road. The general store is a step back in time. The lady working was super nice and told the kids a couple of stories relating to the area. Ferry was not operating, but the cabin and out buildings were interesting in themselves. Explaining what the smokehouse and icehouse were turned out to be a hidden history lesson for the kids.
The church is more a work of art than anything. The view thru the window is more beautiful than any painting. Just remember they do have church on Sunday morning so if you go then either to plan on attending the service or missing the inside of the church.

“A little education never hurt”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

Take 45 minutes from your day driving around looking at mountains and spend some time in this part of Grand Teton National Park. Menor was an early settler to the area and he had a ferry that crossed the snake river. His general store is still standing and open - furnished in the time period when it operated - penny candy and other souvenirs can be purchased. Walk along the trail and see another historic property, the house where area settlers met and agreed to ask the government to take over the area as a national park. Finally stop in the tiny Church of the Transfiguration and be wowed by the views through the window behind the alter - very spiritual.

“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

This is a hidden gem. Walk the short walk, stop and get an old timey soda from the general store and stroll by the snake river. Go inside Noble Cabin for some great history and pictures!

“Different”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012

The Church of the Transfiguration is amazing and the view from the altar is worth an airfare or two. The little shop is worth a visit to see the old rooms and decoration and compare with the modern Chinese artifacts!
