“Great location and friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

Funny I have lived in AZ for many years as a child and been to the Grand Canyon many, many times. I remember when Yavapai lodge was built and stayed there when it opened. Now I went back and it is a great location and the rooms were newly refurbished and great place to stay.

It is walking distance to the main cafeteria and the general store. Has plenty of room with a sofa, refrigerator etc. You can park close to the room entrances as well. One thing to note is it does have 2 levels so if you have any issues with stairs then request a lower level room.

I would definitely stay here again and found these rooms are cheaper than those just off the GC park grounds.

Check in was quick and pleasant, as was the check out. The lodge is located in a quiet and peaceful area, between the woods. Rooms look rustic from the outside, but the inside was surprisingly modern and comfortable. Beds were comfortable, lots of closet space, fridge, microwave, coffee maker and a big flat screen tv. Also, a big supply of green tea body wash, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. We were here in October, so no need for the ac, but control-it-yourself heating was perfect for us. Lodge is located near general store and cafeteria. Walking to the rim, we lost the trail and seen lots of elk! Overall an amazing experience. Highly recommended to easy going people, who go to the Grand Canyon for the breathtaking views and not the high speed internet.

Yavapai offers you the basic facilities, clean & affordable room, and close proximity to the rim of the Canyon. Take advantage of the free transportation the park provides. Restaurants are available in different locations. Personally, I recommend the El Tovar, it's priced slightly higher than the cafes, but you receive table service, in the best surrounding, not to mention more food. Hope this is helpful.

Stayed in Yavapai West. Didn't need air conditioning (not sure if the room had it). The heat worked fine. It was conveniently located - we were there in October and didn't find it hard to drive or take the shuttle to where we wanted to go. Wifi is only available in the cafeteria and reception area.

To check in, park in the marketplace parking lot (where the grand canyon general store is located). You can walk through the Yavapai Cafeteria to get to the reception desk.

We had a room with 2 queen beds, a refrigerator and a coffee maker. It was clean, quiet and comfortable. It looked like it had been recently renovated. View of trees and rocks.

Yavapai Lodge was perfect for our stay. My husband and I took my mother to the Grand Canyon for a sunset experience. The lodge was comfortable and simple but for the experience the price was well worth it. We had the greatest of sunsets! It is located in the park about 1/2 mile to the rim. The bus picked us at the lodge and took us to multiple locations where we get off and then get back on at our convenience. We only stayed one night but again it was well worth the experience. The rooms are basic but very comfortable. The lodge was quiet even though it was full to capacity.

We arrived early and the staff managed to sort us out a room without too much delay. Service was excellent, staff were friendly. The location was great, not far to walk to the rim and very close to the bus stop for the free shuttle.

We just wanted to be close but not pay too much. This was great. Way better than the motels we have been using and right by the canyon. The hotel pales into insignificance to the early morning trip to the rim to watch the sunrise. That's what we were there for.
