We stayed here just overnight on a tour of the usa to visit the grand canyon.
You can't really get a better location as you are just a short stroll away from the south rim of the canyon and can easily visit the many viewpoints there are here via your own car or the free shuttle buses the park provides(remember there is an entrance fee to the park on top of your accomodation costs)
the accomodation was clean, comfortable but basic, however that is in keeping with its setting, you can't really plonk a luxury 5 star hotel in the middle of a national park !
There are other lodges run by the same company within the south rim area which looked like they may have been slightly more comfortable but for a one or two night stay, the Yavapai lodge is fine although if i had stayed there any longer i would have felt a bit like i was roughing it, but you are there to see the grand canyon, not the inside of a room.
My only slight complaint would be that the walls were very thin which meant you could here people in the adjoining rooms and people walking upstairs on the floor above you.
There are other hotels just on the outside of the park - best western, motels etc, which would have more facilities, but if you want to actually stay at the canyon and be more or less in walking distance of it, these lodges are really your only choice.
They had a food court where we had an early breakfast after watching the sunrise over the canyon(another advantage of being actually at the canyon) which was good food and good value.
do look out for elk and other wildlife within the park, its great!
a good stay- just dont expect luxury!
