We booked this hotel due to excellent location. We arrived at midnight after a long drive [by U.K. standards] from Las Vegas. Unfortunately, the Grand Canyon flight we had booked for mid afternoon next day had been changed to 6am - therefore, our timing was all out.
We were checked in and directed to our room, which was easy enough to find. The room was basic, but adequate and clean with toiletries provided and the added bonus of a fridge, even though it was small and on the floor, it was greatly appreciated.
We did know when we booked that the room had no air conditioning, but thought that the advantage of the location would outweigh this disadvantage. However, in reality, it was just too hot to sleep - despite our exhaustion we hardly slept a wink. This added to the early flight spoilt our day somewhat.
We decided to book another hotel just outside the park instead of staying a second night at Maswik Lodge. We returned to the park to see the sun set, before collecting our belongings from the room. Upon our check out, the receptionist asked why we were leaving early and immediately refunded our second nights stay. I not only didn't ask for this, but I genuinely didn't expect it. That is really why I felt I must record this in a review.
We didn't use any facilities other than our room, so I can't comment on them. However, we felt that we certainly got what we paid for - the room was really inexpensive and the only problem was that we had underestimated the real need for air conditioning in the summer in the U.S.
