“Once in a lifetime”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2014

There are no words to descibe how wonderful this was but I know tripadvisor requires a few. I never thought I would or could do this but I would rate this the best day(s) of my life. The staff is so great and the food is awesome. Everyon should do this once

“You got to do this”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014

Done this twice. It's famous, unique , beautiful and fun. We backpacked and got a opportunity to eat without a reservation the first time. They take credit cards. Meal was awesome. The people you meet are awesome. The help are so nice. I figured why this place is special. Everybody is glad they are there. It's in my top 10 favorite places on earth. If you are camping you can sit and have a beer and play cards or read from 8 to 10 but don't miss the stars or night hiking with a full moon.

“Hiker's Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

I have had the pleasure of staying at Phantom Ranch 4 times and I have loved it every time. It's about a 3-4 hour hike down from the South Rim on the N. Kaibab Trail, depending on your conditioning and how many stops you take for photos as each switchback seems to offer even better views than the last. If you want a cold beer, make sure you are down well before 4, as the Cantina closes at 4 to get ready for the first dinner seating. Stew is excellent and so is the steak. I have not had the vegetarian chili. Love the family style seating and meeting people from all over the world who have come to hike the canyon. You can easily hike down, spend the night and go back out the next day or continue on to the other side, but I have found 2 nights at Phantom makes for a more relaxing trip and provides time to sit on the beach and watch the rafts go by, explore the Phantom Ranch are or hike up to Ribbon Falls. Dorms are fine, but prefer the cabins. Reservations need to be made a year in advance, unless you get lucky and happen to all on a day when someone has cancelled. I think October and April are the best months, but they are also the highest in demand.

“Best Lemonade!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

My favorite part of this trip was getting to Phantom Ranch, sitting down with some lemonade, writing on post cards, and playing Uno. Fun environment solidifies any reason to hike the canyon!

“Nice place for a hike”

Didn't stay here as we were passing through on a rafting trip, but I would love to come back here to stay for the night.
