“Hike and visit to Phantom Ranch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

Nice people run this little store and piece of civilization within the vast Grand Canyon. From an outdoor camping and rafting trip, this was a welcome oasis with wine, beer, tea, lemonade and a little cool air. Post cards were plentiful to be sent by pack mule. We didn't eat but we were allowed to sit down and use restroom with just buying beverages. Very rustic and pleasant.

“An oasis for canyon hikers.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

Our needed stop to hydrate and cool down while hiking the canyon. We always get a bag of ice to fill up our water bottles and camel backs for the rest of the hike.

“The lemonade is soooooo good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

I thought we would get to Phantom too early for the canteen to re-open after breakfast. We had left the South Kaibab trailhead about 4:45 a.m. but were a little slower than planned. We arrived at Phantom about 7:45 a.m. and filled out camelbacks, had a snack, changed socks, used the potty, and then the canteen opened. Max and I split a Lemmie... so cold and so good. Gave me just the energy to take off on the North Kaibab trail - only 18 miles to go to the North rim!!

“If you hike in the food taste the "Best Ever".”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

The food, if you can get reservations, is really good. If you hike in the food is incredible. Never stayed in the cabins, have always hiked in and camped at Bright Angel Campground. The Canteen carries snacks, lemonade, tea etc. Nice cool area to relax and spend the day.

“YeeHaw”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

We have the "privilege" of riding the Mules down to Phantom Ranch and spending the night. It is primitive. The food was good and plentiful. Enjoyed the evening Ranger talks.
