“Go to the end!!! Big payoff.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

Plan 1.5 hours to do this right. Restrooms at very end (Cape Royal). Do hit all of the paved pullouts. Each has its own unique view. None were repetitive. Do go out on all of the paved or semi-paved viewing platforms - to the end. All are worth it. At Cape Royal, go to both viewing platforms (you will see the trail split).

“Big View for a Short Walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

Cape Royal Trail is at the end of 20 miles of winding road, but it is worth the drive. It is a short well paved trail that affords access to some stunning overlooks to just about anyone of any age. Angel's Window a natural arch that frames the Colorado River in the background is just a few yards off of the trail. If you are at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, do not miss this walk.

“Short hike and awesome views!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

A short 0.3 mile hike brings you to an overlook where you can see the plateau in the distance and the Colorado River at the bottom. Angels Window is also along this trail.

“The last viewpoint at walhalla plateau. north rim”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

The cape royal trail is the last viewpoint along the wlhalla plateau on the north rim grand canyon. From the lodge travel up the 2 lane cape royal road. When you reach the fork , take a right . There are several fine viewpoints along the 11 mile paved road to its end. There is ample parking and mostly not crowded.
Informative signs on natural history are found along this half mile round trip walkway. At 7,685 ft elevation there are sweeping views of wontons throne, vishnu temple, freya castle, and horsehoe masa with the colorado river. It also has an off shoot on angles window.

Clean restrooms are available at the parking area. I would allow an hour to tour the viewpoint and take pictures. It will take you 45 min to get here from the lodge without stopping. There are no services along this road so i would pack a lunch or get one at the deli before leaving.

“Great Place to greet the Sunrise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

This was a very easy trail to follow in the dark so we could be out on the point by sunrise. Really glorious views!
